Be careful there is Porn being posted down below !!
yeah you read correctly,,, its some cloth Carbon Fiber Porn !!! I hope you like it ![]() There is; - two 3k 2x2 Twill cloth - one 12k plain T700 - one 12k biaxial 45-45deg T700 ![]() ![]() It took about an hour to do a paper fender template to cut all of the CF layer needed for the job. Then another 3 hours of hand lay up with a slow hardener... I should have bought a fast one on my last order ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Megan370z; 04-05-2014 at 07:39 PM. |

I wish I had the skills, time, money, and motivation to do this. Somebody is gonna be a lucky f*ck when you decide to sell it to move onto something else.

a little bit extreme indeed.
before I do something else in the inner fender I will finish the rest of the car .. its taking too long now I originally planned to be done by the end of April / beginning of May. this is what the current inner fender look like at this moment. ![]() Last edited by Megan370z; 04-12-2014 at 10:56 PM. |

How thick are you making these parts? I want to make some canards and on ebay for a 12x48" panel I see 1.5mm, 2.6mm, 3.5mm and 4.4mm. I'm thinking 2.6mm should be what apr uses and strong enough.

the rear bumper skin is a 3 layer and some reinforcement at the sharp edge. its very close to 1/16 *very flexible* the front side large panel are 4 layers of (7oz / 9oz / 12oz/ 9oz ) which give about 1/8'' * haven't measured* *quite strong panel* the rear large quarter panels are made with the same layer as the front side panel ( 4 layers ) the rear lower winglets are 3 layer ( 9oz /12oz/9oz ) and 2 extra layer of 12oz each at the mounting flange thickness goes from about 1/8 to almost 1/4 at the flange those 90deg 1x1'' are 2 layer of 12oz. ( about 1/16 ) (half weight from the same L beam in Aluminium. ) the long L parts 5''x2'' are 2 layers of 12oz and a renforcement of another 12oz at the bent edge (1/16 to almost 1/8) as far as your canard size ... I have a small plate that I kept which mesure .095'' , its quite stiff and should be good for that application (I guess ) if you go with that 2.6mm ( .102'') im still new in the CF stuff... I almost want to kick myself in the butt to have started this aero body kit back in January !!
I'm not working on this everyday but I should have !!! The cost has been quite expensive soo far ! But I also been learned a lot on how to make parts with CF & hybrid CF/Kevlar. the right side has been completed and they are currently getting the final coat tonight, I expect a result of 8/10 for a hand laying process which will be alright for this first kit. some part are getting a last layer of the Blue hybrid CF/Kevlar. ![]() I had the worst luck for the pass couple weeks, having to restart the front left fender TWICE from scratch. and the rear quarter had to get surgery to remove a 12''x10'' section because it was too high..... Left fender #3 being used to make the mold.... (About time !!!) ![]() Last edited by Megan370z; 05-18-2014 at 09:47 PM. |
