Remote start

Has anyone actually accomplished a successful install on the manual transmission yet?? What brand?? My dealer says he can't do it to the manual tranny....

no dealer will realistically install a remote start on a manual transmission. i've had someone remote start their car into a wall when a shop worked on his car. they parked his car in 1st and that didn't end up well when he hit the button.

on the Z at least, there are sensors telling which gear you're in so that can be used with a neutral safety switch, but i still doubt a dealer or shop will do it for you.

I understand the implications of trying to start a car in gear with a remote starter, but from what I can understand from the wiring schematics, there are enough "safety's" to avoid this. IE: neutral position sensor, handbrake sensor....
From the websites I have seen, it is not impossible, merely somewhat convoluted in the implementation. Just hoping someone would have had this done already. In Canada, remote starts are necessary evils for cars driven year round.
Prostart seems to indicate that it IS possible with the existing wiring in the 2009 and 2010 models. This would be the same configuration as the manual tranny G37 too.

i believe it's possible, and i plan on doing it before it gets hot this summer. i'm planning on 2 full days of work just in case. integrating the CAN bus and making the locks work correctly will be tricky.

A guy up in Northern Alaska did it on his manual base. I helped him figure out the neutral sensor wire and he had already figured out the clutch bypass and e-brake.

An extra fob (without battery) needs to be wired into the system so it can be temporarily powered up to authorize the start.

Need to find the thread ...

Here it is.
Possible to start engine without depressing on clutch??

Not a DIY but should help you on your way.

Most of the signals you need to interface to aren't on CAN bus.

I would add the neutral detection logic, it isn't that difficult for the installer. You only have to forget once.
