Are these claims on the 370Z for real?

My response to the author: What crack are you smoking, this is a piss poor article? Yes, we all know sub-compact cars stand little to no chance in a collision with a large SUV or truck. But your commentary on the sports cars is laughable. The Corvette has an amazin saftey record and is designed in a way that protects the driver in a collision causing the car to come apart around the driver. I have personally seen a Corvette be t-boned by a fully loaded dump truck going 55 miles per hour and struck the Corvette on the drivers side from front wheel past the drivers door. The driver walked away with a bruised leg, the car did its job. Regarding the 370z, the brakes are not much of an issue, even on the base model. Any car when driven spiritedly can have brakes overheat if you are unskilled, which means you shouldn't be doing that sort of thing in the first place. Additionally, beyond the base model, all other 370z's come with the upgraded Akebono big brake option which is on par with Stop Tech, Wilwood and Brembo brakes and outperform most basic braking systems and perform quite well under hard driving track conditions. I race a 370z and have yet to have any brake related issues under hard driving track conditions, drift racing, let alone street spirited driving. The other sports cars you mentioned can all be unsafe if you don't respect the car and drive it like an idiot, but that isn't the fault of the car, you can have the same thing happen in a Huyndai Elantra or a Toyota Prius. Please be more factual and less opinionated when publishing material as this is just another piece that belongs in the fake news category. Good try, but epic fail!

Wow, what a shite article. Absolutely no sources cited, no explanation for the comments given e.g.

That is in relation to the BRZ, a car I have personally seen rolled multiple times on a track and watched the driver walk away from. OK, it was caged, but still, the outer roof/passenger cell structure was intact and the car held up great.

If you are going to make claims that cars are unsafe, I think some citations to scientific, mechanical and engineering evaluations are required.

Oh, and I almost missed this gem on the 370Z:

No it doesn't, it literally can't have poor crash test ratings because the car has literally never been formally crash evaluated by any of the major NCAPS, not by the USA NHTSA, not by the Euro NCAP, and not by the Australian NCAP. Nada, zilch, nothing. As a low volume sportscar it has basically slipped through the need for a crash evaluation. Now it might crash like a wet paper bag, or it might crash like tank, but we literally can't say because there is no formal crash test evaluation.

Pretty much all mass-produced street cars will do the same thing for track duty. C5 Z06 and C6 Z06 may come with more aggressive brake pads and cooling ducts for all 4 and still the pads wouldn't withstand true track duty (road course, not autocross or drag).

I saw a guy hit the concrete barrier at 130 mph head on in a new ZL1 Camaro.

Car flipped onto the roof, on top of the barrier and rolled 5-6 times. Horrific crash.

Every inch of this car was bent. Every air bag deployed, and the driver went home with a just a sore neck.

Incredible result if you ask me. Kudos to GM on thier safety engineering.

The entire article is a generalization and garbage. Saying a car is unsafe because of it's HP is nonsense. I had a 750hp vehicle that was a pure street car and drag raced, never put a scratch on it. Bad decisions (NOT mistakes) by people is the problem with high hp cars, guns, so on and so forth. Take responsibility for yourself, it's YOUR fault!

Lol car and driver. . . If it was a Stang or Camaro they'd have some next excuse. Tracking a car with stock pads and rotors is a fools errand. Daily driving and a few hard stops here and there? Z can deal with it.
