Are these claims on the 370Z for real?

Never heard of an insufficient brake cooling flaw???

SouthArk370Z 08-06-2020 08:30 AM

Not a problem for a DD.
People who race often upgrade their rotors/pads and provide some extra cooling via ductwork.

I had the base brakes for years with no mods and they were just fine on the road. This is a ridiculous claim in my opinion.

This entire article is questionable.

Just more proof that real journalism is dead.

Yep. Looks like the author spent 15 minutes on Google and then wrote the article.

You've been click-baited.
You'll put the car in limp-mode from overheating before the brakes give out....

Depends on the track and your driving style. :driving:

Damn! Forgot to use my sarcasm font. Again...

The history behind this claim is from when Car and Driver went out on the track with stock pads and crashed the car due to brake failure. They gave a terrible review in 2008 I think it was. Morons.

You can't track the car in stock form. It needs some basic upgrades. But there are absolutely no issues with street driving or short bursts of spirited driving in stock form.

100X what rusty said. I have never had cooling issues with my brakes... and to be honest, i probably use the brakes too much on my laps anyway.

less braking = more laptime = less heat = more yeet

I will say, the type of pads you run will determine how severe your fade is.

Thanks guys, I figured it was click bait and ridiculous. What about the low crash rating part?

I mean it's small and aluminum. Don't go toe to toe with an SUV or bridge abutment. :tiphat:

JARblue 08-06-2020 02:40 PM

There are no crash test ratings because none are required on vehicles with low manufacturing numbers such as the Z.

Why is the Pinto even on this list?

When was the last time you even saw a Pinto? They crushed all those before half the People on this forum were even born. Production stopped 40 years ago!

Where is my 1963 VW Beetle that didnt even have seat belts? Hell it would only go 65 mph flat out, and slightly faster when you applied the worthless brakes.
Had a 6 volt battery, you couldn't even tell when the headlights were on.

This is baseless non-sense.

I had a buddy back in high school who had a 1988 mustang GT engine in his pinto.
