ARP studs getting installed - what else to do while in there?

All,

As the title says, I’ll be having extended rear studs installed very soon so that I can run a spacer safely. I looked up the videos on what needs to come off (wheel bearing, brake assembly, etc.). My question is this: since I’m paying for the labor of getting it done,
- how much time would this job take?
- what else should I do while in there to get more out of the labor dollars (Brake pads/rotors? Parking brake maintenance? What else?)
- is there anything I need to know/consider?

Time was. It depends on the skill set of the guy doing it. I knocked mine out in about 3 hours. You should read my thread.

Installing ARP wheel studs

Since you are in there. Parking brake adjustment, new rotors, pads, stainless lines. etc. Grease the stub axles so that you don't get the clicking.

@rusty thanks for the reply. I did read yours first and watched some YouTube videos. I’m doing it in a shop. Would you say it should be charged as a 3-hour job? How about suspension? As much as I love cars and modding, I can’t do the labor. I am, however, sitting on a new NISMO suspension takeoff. Would these jobs be interrelated in the rear?

It depends on the shop for what they want to charge. Some will charge a flat rate, others will do a time and material charge. I'm an X ASE Cert Master Tech, with a state inspector license. I breeze through most of this stuff.

What have you done on the suspension?

When you say you're sitting on Nismo suspension takeoffs. What does that mean?

My suspension is stock. I’ve only had the car since spring and wanted to do the “driver mod” before messing with the suspension. In other words, I am still happy with stock suspension suspension coming from a C6 Corvette. I haven’t yet learned to drive it well enough to start “improving”. But I couldn’t pass up a local sale of a NISMO takeoff (springs and struts) for next to nothing with basically no mileage. I read up on it and it seems to be quite a bit stiffer/better than a non-NISMO and lowers the ride height by about 10mm. Since I got it, I figured it’ll be my next suspension mod.

Your next mod should be the SPL UCLA's. This way you can adjust camber and caster on the front.

I appreciate the advice on the SPLs. I’m not ready to spend another grand at the moment. However, since I’ll be doing the extended studs, I could technically do the NISMO shocks and springs at the same time. Would that be a worthy upgrade to base?

Those who did it for the most part gave it a There isn't much difference in ride height. The springs are stiffer, so is the dampening. The newer Nismo's have softer springs and dampening.

This one is off of the 2020 (the one with black springs). I may just look into better brakes too (brake lines, rotors and pads). I didn’t really read up on those so feel free to suggest.

On pads and rotors. You'll get a 100 of opinions on that.

My set up is Racing Brake 2 piece rotors, 10/8 combo of Carbotech pads, Z1 brake lines, Ti heat shields on the front calipers, Castrol SRF brake fluid. This will drain your wallet. I do trackdays, so it's worth it to me.

I do not track at all. I drive aggressively and enjoy it, for which the stock everything is plenty. That’s why I feel like the NISMO shocks/springs would make a good upgrade. Actually, I forgot that I added Eibach sway bars (full stiff/middle). So it sounds like a no go on the brakes unless it’s needed.

Also, I have to ask. NISMO has 60mm studs vs ARP’s 3” (75mm I believe). I want to be able to go up to at least (and probably most) 25mm spacer with aftermarket wheels. To me it sounds like I better go with the ARPs, but am I understanding this right? Stocks are 40mm, so, if I need to add a 25mm spacer, it’d need to have at least 40+25=65mm? By this math, I’d have to go with the ARP. And another question that just came to mind: With these long *** studs, is it safe/advisable to have an option to run an even bigger spacer than 25mm to Potentially have more wheel options?

I tried both the original Nismo red springs and the newer Nismo black springs and neither set lowed my 12 sport at all.

The 25 & 30mm thick spacers I’ve seen, are designed to slip over your factory hubs & torque on with provided nuts
They come with studs; so you bolt your wheels to the spacers
