NO OIL COOLER AND YOU ARE RUNNING A SUPER CHARGER!!!!

You need to seriously rethink the upgrade priority!

Get a oil cooler installed and do it now!

The Z is already a hot car (in more ways than one) and adding boost will cause lots of additional heat. Get a 25 or 32 row cooler. I chose the Z1 kit because it uses the stock Nissan filter size. One less thing to remember over the years of ownership. Installation is very easy and should only take about three beers, I mean hours.

Understand all, you're right. I found the deal on the SC kit which is why I picked it up. Next will be the oil cooler and I was thinking the cjm oil pan as well.

Exclamation Fuel Injectors: IMPORTANT

Here's a hiccup that's extremely dangerous and very avoidable if anyone reading this is planning on upgrading their injectors as well: Use the spacers!!!!!!!!!1!!!!111!!!!

I can't actually stress that enough. Somehow we installed the new injectors (ID1050Xs) without the supplied spacers and my #4 injector separated itself from the rail while driving down a busy road... Very awkward...

Sitting at a stoplight, the car randomly starting idling extremely rough and then turned off. Upon attempting to restart the car, I noticed a puff of dark smoke from one of my drivers' side hood vents. Commence "Oh ****, Oh ****, Oh ****". Popped the hood, immediately smelled gas and noticed gas boiling on my intake runners under the fuel rails. Not having the fire extinguisher I do now, I did the only thing I could think of and I poured the contents of my water bottle onto the boiling mixture to cool it down, dilute it and try to wash some of it off. My neighbor towed me back to my house (only about 2 miles away) and I tore down the culprit area this morning to discover the above issue...

I talked to Z1 about getting the spacers through them since I am ordering my oil cooler and pan through them as well in hopes that maybe they would include a set for me and I should hear back Monday from them. Until then, I get to do the one thing I hoped not to do again for a long, long while... Take off and re-install that damn Stillen intake manifold

Must have some good karma saved up... No Fire.

Had a fuel leak on a couple of my cars in the past. When I first got my 914, the tank would leak until it was half full. Found the previous guy put a screw to hold the carpet in place. Screw went through the floor and into the tank. It was leaking from there. Leaking hoses in 2 other cars. Pretty lucky none of them ended up in fires. Just nasty headaches from the gasoline high.

For Jayhovah and TBatt, done and in progress haha. I bought the 34 row F.I. oil cooler from a member here and will be installing today while the car is taken apart for my wonderful injector snafu.

Uh... what spacers? I just installed these same Injectors a few weeks back and don't remember anything specific about spacers. Course it's possible I just installed them without taking note. Only thing I really recall is the two seals per injector, top and bottom.

Thumbs down The Real, Evil Gremlin...

So... I received my oil cooler today and pulled the intercooler off to install it. In the meantime, I decided that I might as well change out the SC oil, just to see how it looks given my sound. The drain line was clogged. Not too big a deal, cleared it and holding on to the initial oil that came out of it to figure out what clogged it (not a lot of optomistic options...).

Once the oil drained, I re-installed the plug and put one bottle of SC oil into the unit. I begin to assemble my oil cooler bracket and I'm ready to mount it to the car. I look and see some SC oil, well away from where it should be, so I look for the leak. THERE IS OIL DRIPPING FROM THE CHARGE PIPE TO THE INTERCOOLER!..........

I'm kind of at a loss for words at the moment... Also in a little bit of shock and denial... Calling Vortech literally right now in hopes they can at least get me a quick turnaround on the unit...

Vortech thinks probably bearing/seal failure. Surprise surprise...

And this kids is how we learn very valuable lessons.

Wish me luck!!

There are some 3/16"ish spacers where the injectors meet the engine to ensure the injectors remain firmly in the rail and in the engine. If you do not install them, fuel pressure can force the injector further than desired into the block and lead to the top developing a gap between the injector and the rail. After a little cooldown, I felt the inboard side of the injector at the rail and I could feel the o-ring. Also, significant spray from between the rail and the injector upon priming the fuel pump by turning the ignition "ON"

If you look at the picture, the spacer is actually on the injector ("top" or engine side of the injector) at this point. How they got removed is beyond me...

This is... and yes... and no...

The SC is off the car, in the box and ready to ship 45 minutes after getting off the phone with Vortech haha. I'm sad to say I'm getting good at this lol. Once the get back to me on the rebuild, I'll authorize it so that I can get it back ASAP. I think I'll probably go with the 78k bearings as well while it's there to save myself time in the future. Don't get me wrong, I have zero intention of overspinning the SC at this point in engine and tranny condition (stock).

Hopefully it'll come back and purr like a kitten

Gotta keep lookin' on the bright side!!

If I were you Id have them upgrade to the SI trim no doubt! Also, your motor can take anything that supercharger can throw at it. The tranny is your limiting factor but I would still say your safe at spinning it to produce 11psi. I was making 414wtq at 12.5 so at 11 you should be well under the 400 mark. Just make sure you use Seb as your tuner. With him behind the wheel of the tune I would spin it to 75k and make 450 all day.
