No offense intended but I'm having a hard time justifying the 5 K cost too.
Same here, I looked into a manual swap. I got a pice list of everything you will need. I even threw in lightweight flywheel new clutch, the CSC fix kit from Z1 and triple pass MT radiator. All parts shipped to my house would cost $4,515. Now mind that you could do the work yourself that's the price for a transmission to handle the power of a boosted car.

Also I'm in the process of finding a a totaled MT sport package Z to see if it's cheaper.

we haven't asked about any upcoming product offerings from level10 yet. Our only thoughts are that they would be supplying aftermarket clutch packs with the build to justify the costs. However, that is unconfirmed at the moment. Instead of shipping of your trans you could do the following:

Fast intentions flex plate
Exedy clutch pack
Level10 valvebody
Level10 TQ converter
Transmission cooler

Have a local competent shop install it all. That is if shipping is an issue. Now if new gears need to be made we can handle that if it comes to it.

That's EXACTLY the point where I'm at right now. The only things left to do now is to talk to level 10 and ask about the valve body mods and determine if I can rebuild the transmission or find a shop that can.

I've rebuilt Dodge automatics to a performance level with clutch packs, valve body mods and coolers, etc. But the 7 speed looks a little more complex and requires a little more thought. I may buy a used 7 speed and tear it down to explore and play, just because I can

The stock tranny can hold 400ft lbs reliably. Anything above that runs the risk of failure. Not a if but rather a when scenario. A valve body upgrade pushes it to 450ftlbs safely. Once beyond 450ftlbs other items need be done in the form of a full transmission build.

Slight update everyone:

As we work to make the system bullet proof we have come to the conclusion that the unit will not be able to fit under the stock hood. However, we have anticipated this and plan to partner with a vendor to offer two options.

Option 1: Full hood replacement (keeping under wraps for now)

Option 2: A hood cowl add on that will look great on any stock profile hood!

Here is a teaser of what we are working on. More details to come.

This rendering looks great. I'd do this hood modification even without the kit. I'm totally stoked about this kit and hope it works out. As for now I'm saving my nickels for it!!

Option 2: valve body + tq converter upgrade (next best option) costs about $2k

Option 3: get the bulletproof transmission from level10

A couple other options

Exedy clutch pack: costs about $350
Fast intentions billet flex plate: costs about $1k

You forgot Option 4: buy the LVL10 7sp Auto rebuild kit $790 and get a trans mechanic to install them.

The kit seperatly is not listed on their website but it is available if you ask them. Something I am considering doing since I am down in Australia and cannot ship a whole trans there and back.

Pretty PLEASE do this Bonnet!!!!

This is the best looking hood I have ever seen on a Z. Actually TBH, I think it is the only good looking hood not out there yet!!

Makes the Z look more muscular.

Reliability is more important! I don't have a problem replacing my hood if need be.

Our intercooler package is going to be rated to over 1000whp. The design of the intercooler core is modular in that you can add or subtract cores. Currently the stage 2 kit is looking to run 7 cores. The stage 1 kits we are going to offer with a few cores less of the full capability in order to lower the entry level costs. However this leaves everyone an upgrade path just by ordering more cores, new pulleys, Throttle bodies and fuel system.

We are really taking the time to look at this kit from your perspective. We want to provide a very modular, reliable and scalable kit without breaking the bank. Everything we do toward the kit has efficiency, quality, reliability, cost and performance in mind. We want to hit all of these metrics when the unit comes out in may.

Note: the design for the hood cowl add on is specifically made so that any body shop can install it with ease. Also we wanted a design that will not leave creases or require lots of body filler to blend. The attachment points will be folded under the cowl allowing for a seamless mating to your stock profile hood.

So it's a cut the center out of stock hood and place over design? Will it require a reprint of the hood?

we plan to offer a downloadable template that anyone can print out to make modifications to their hood. The add on piece will utilize the angled edges of the center of the hood for mounting points. Mounting will be done from underneath the hood. We hope to have a carbon fiber option and an FRP option. The level of fitment will be up to the end user. If you want to bond and repaint you can. If your want to sealer and rivet/fastener you can.

The render looks fantastic! I'm just worried about clean cut lines if it comes in from underneath, that means the cutting to install it will be visible from the outside? Cutting into the hood just makes me cringe lol but I guess a good shop could do it.
