True racing fans hate crashes...it's not Nascar where all the good 'ol boys go to see a big pileup!
Hmmm I have always been a true race fan and bumping in my opinion has always been part of road racing in production car classes. I'm tired of sissies who say contact is bad. Crashes are bad but contact happens when you are pushing hard in a big field. It's always been part of racing and has never been reserved just to stock cars. If contact wasn't part of the game why do grand am cars have big push structures built into front and rear? Or at least the smart teams build these into their cars. Lol!

Grand Am is actually pretty calm compared to most similar series in other parts of the world.

im still waiting for more info about that before I do the same since I still have my backup HR when I had my 350z.
Heat isn't the biggest factor, the problem is when you want valve specs outside the range of what VVEL is capable of. In a race-car VVEL is useless as it purpose is to broaden the torque curve at the low RPM's, where as race-engines are only run at high RPM's. The answer is a straight cam designed for 5-8k rpm, but you need the HR heads for this. For a street car that see's some track VVEL still performs great and helps forgive sins if you aren't in the perfect gear every corner.

I do agree about the Nissan Motorsports Parts list though. You can find many of the parts online but they aren't always properly categorized so you don't even know what car they are for! A proper catalog of their (non-warrantied) parts like Mazda does would be great. It would also be great if they had a broader racer's program allowing you to buy the parts at a discount, Mazda did this right and is a very popular track car as a result.

Sorry for going off-topic ... back to your regularly scheduled program!

The Doran Nismo RC car looks great!

Nothing wrong with clean contact. Just don't flat out wreck a guy on purpose. And if you do decide to "help" a slower car out of the groove, you better make sure you really are faster or else you should expect the same treatment later on.

Well, it appears Nissan is now starting to do just that...(support grass roots racers) with Spec Z...they are paying out some real money to race 350zs...

NASA News - National Auto Sport Association - nasaproracing.com

And I am now running in this class...

No the RC does not come this way...the RC is a bone stock 370Z engine.
It does have upgraded radiator, shrouding, oil cooler, power steering cooler, NISMO LSD, diff cooler etc....
Am Performance did a lot of development and what we ran at Barber...was what they finished with at Mid Ohio and was actually one of their race engines.
We are taking off from Homestead for a couple of reasons...one being the chassis just got back late this past week...but more importantly...upgrades and development in both engine performance and suspension...I can say one thing..our brake package is UNREAL.
Contact is one thing...driving like a Dbag is another. It takes far more skill to get around someone...than shove them out of the way. I can also say this...I have passed a lot of cars in my time by letting faster cars go around...esp in a 3 hour race.... Now...under an hour left...its time to dig in...but still I have always felt contact is a cheap and less skillfull way out....Anywho....

For instance the last BTCC (Donnington Round 2 Race 3) was amazing. There was a huge battle for third at the end. Jason Plato (5th Gear Host and "professional" racer) tried everything to get from 3rd to 2nd. The racer in front of him was spot on an blocked EVERYTHING. So what does d-bag plato do? He rams full speed into the guy ON THE LAST CORNER, knocking him off track, and claims 2nd for himself. That is not racing, but most of the other bumping in BTCC is!

I expected to see a few at Summit Point this coming weekend, but sadly zero are entered.

I'm sure Nissan doesn't expect a ton of entries this year... The NASA press release only went out a couple months ago. Granted there are probably some guys whose cars are there or nearly there for meeting the rules, but if anything a lot of guys are hopefully gearing up to run next season and we'll see some testers later this year.

We are hoping to have ~20 at the NASA National Championships this year...with maybe 5-10 cars on track today.

But yes, this is a building year...my 1st Spec Z event will be June @ Road Atlanta...I am converting from NASA-PTB....

Not eligible for Spec Z but would be a great race car in general.

Yes copy on the not eligible...
But for the money...it was a proven and reliable car.

Looking forward to these. Will be replacing the ball joints in my SPC's this weekend, these look to be a much higher quality.

Anyone want some slightly used SPC's with fresh ball joints?
