Do you have aftermarket cats? Or just going to keep the cats stock?

Stock cats. I've heard that some aftermarket cats don't play nice with certain exhausts. Annoying noises and stuff.

happytheman 03-03-2012 08:58 PM

Mantella - That Ark system looks sweet! :)

Curious to ask you guys... How many o rings is it supposed to come with? There's only 1...

I got two, but only because I asked for two. That was back when they just released the knob. I'm sure one will do the job.

Re-did my drivers side ART pipe since I had an exhaust leak the first time I tried to install them. This time it worked out. After getting the car back up and running I went for a test drive and then a wash. The sound with the ART pipes on the stock exhuast is pretty cool. Can't wait until I finally pull the trigger on an exhaust and complete the setup. The biggest difference in exhaust sound that I noticed was on the downshifts. The trottle blips sound bad a$$ now. I sure it gave some good HP gains as well but not as much as normal due to still having the stock exhuast. The last thing on todays to do list for the Z is to place my the370Z.com stickers.:happydance:

Nick911sc 03-03-2012 09:08 PM

Hey happy, is it possible to get the shift pattern correct without having to use the loctite?

happytheman 03-03-2012 09:32 PM

Yup, that's exactly where mine cinched down to! :)

This is really interesting.... So the only difference you can hear are the downshift blips?

No I can hear a difference any time I am on the throttle heavy but most noticable to me was the downshift throttle blips. The noise from them is totally different than it was with the stock cats.

Just tried to remove the OEM shiftknob. Wouldn't budge. I'm going to have to try it in the morning with someone else to help me. How easy is it to screw up the linkage if you arent holding under the boot properly(and what exactly would the results be)?

Hmmm. Need help man?

I was able to put three NISMO wheels on the Z today. The fourth is forthcoming as I couldn't get one of my winter wheels (the SP wheels) off; I think it's because one of the (new) guys at the tire shop I usually goto for my tire swaps, bolted the lug nuts on waaaayyyyy too tight. In fact, the top of the wheel lock straight up broke off sometime in the past two weeks, so I've gotta get that fixed, too.

Nick911sc 03-03-2012 09:55 PM

I think I'm going to have my dad help me in the morning when I can pull the car out of the garage and have someone sit in the passenger seat to help

That really blows about the rims. :(

waaaasabi 03-03-2012 10:03 PM

Shouldn't be too difficult to fix, though - it's just annoying. I might come out to the meet on Wednesday pending how my schedule on Tuesday unfolds. Are you going out?

Nick911sc 03-03-2012 10:04 PM

If the weathers nice I just might try to make an appearance :)

I didn't have trouble when removing my OEM shift-knob, but yes, they are freaking tight.

I didn't notice any difference on neither the exhaust or intake sound when I put in the K&N Drop-in. Maybe you pay more attention on it now than before?? :icon17:

Nope, I've gone down to do my wash at midnight, 1am sometimes....I'm in Condo building so its nice and quiet at those times lol

TheGreatOne 03-04-2012 01:16 AM

I finished one of the headlights today

Blacked out, matched the projector shroud and turn signal shroud to the 40th color, hard to tell in pics. Went back and forth on using VHT night shade on the turn signal but just left it stock orange

Morning guys. :hello: Man you guys have been busy. Happy I'm an RN in a hospital on a med/surg floor. I'm a volunteer asst fire chief/EMT RIT/FAST team safety officer. Full plate LOL. Been having some drama with my ZL1 order. Slowly working thru it with Chevy Customer service being involved. In a nutshell I have put down a $2000 deposit and have received approval for financing using my Z as a trade in. The ZL1 is of course limited production and I'm trying to ensure that on Feb 1st the dealer ordered me one. Not all dealers have one to sell. I still do not know when my car will go into production or when it will come in. I'm unable to get an order # to follow it's build. So I'm wait and see right now.

Good Morning Z fellows!!! :tiphat:

onzedge 03-04-2012 09:53 AM

Good morning everyone.

I do not have any plans for the Z's today. My wife's Echo took a major dump yesterday (tranny blew) and I have her sold on buying a Juke. A gun metallic SL, 6MT awaits us at our Nissan dealer, but Nissan has put a sales hold on the Jukes while they investigate an issue with fuel pumps.

Wow! Sorry to hear about the Echo! :ugh2:
Hopefully the situation with the Juke gets cleared up soon! In for pics on purchase!

Just curious, the Juke does not have the kind of steering lock like the Z, right??

Thanks. The Echo has been making a noise under load for about a year. We have 136,000 miles on her so we definitely got our money's worth. Anyway, I knew the noise was coming from the tranny input shaft bearing and we decided to just drive it until it failed. Kate picked me up at the airport Friday and driving back it was loud as heck. Yesterday I limped it over to Colin's shop to get it on a lift to check it out and get an opinion on a rebuild cost. It failed driving home and is now sitting on the street, dead, with a jammed transmission.

The upside is a new Juke. Another upside is that the owner of Colin's shop wants to buy the Echo as is for his daughter. The thinkg is in great shape (minus the current undriveability). It has brand new Yokohama Avids, nice rims, K&N intake, Koni Sport-D, Dynaflow exhaust and a new a/c system. It also gets 40 mpg.

The Juke SL is stitting, waiting for us. It is beckoning with its quirky siren song "come buy me".

That's pretty ridiculous, I saw your post the other day too. It's bad business practice to take a deposit on something the dealer can't even guarantee will follow through on, but hopefully you get some closure soon! The ZL1 looks wicked, nice choice.

Fire 03-04-2012 12:36 PM

Hey guys. Got a little sleep. Looking forward to the Phoenix race today. To say how serious Chevy is with the ZL1 they are extending their warranty to track days. Who does that?
