That intake looks awesome! SRI are very taboo for me on the Z. I would buy the R2C in a heartbeat, but other than throttle response I think people see a loss in power? IDK WHAT TO DO.... I don't want long tube intakes though

The R2C looks very nice too, especially the three choices of finishing of the tube, and I like how the heat-shields isolate the filters from the engine compartment.

The only draw-back is the price, since I believe it should perform the same as other short-ram intake, and the K&N is very well-known and many Z fellows in here praise the system, why would I bother to spend an extra $150 on the R2C, $500 VS $350.

For the $150 I save, I have more than enough to spend on my new shift-knob and still have some changes left for a around of beer, LOL

Mr. Alcheng please provide a mini review of the intake. Where is most noticable gain?

Hey Mr.ZMan8, the intake is very easy to install, cost me about 90mins to finish the whole thing. The result is more than satisfy!! The gain is noticeable, especially from 2500rpm and up, I shift at around 5000ish rpm during the test drive, and the whole range does get better!!

The air-sucking sound is also better, the best between 3000-4500rpm, not too loud to my surprised but the healthier breathing note is just enough.

Overall, I will say it is a very good mod consider it only costs $350.

Yes, starting from USD$499 :icon14:

It's a bit on the $$$$+ side as my wallet's point of view.... :ugh2:

Let me try to explain my issues with the ZL1. It is not how long it takes to get one. My issue is that I have no proof that even though I have put $2000 down and my financing is fine that I have a car ordered. The dealers where given only a certain # of allocations for ZL1's. From what I've heard not all dealers received an allocation. I don't know if my dealer even has an allocation to use. If they do not then they actually cannot order my car. The dealer has thus far been unable or unwilling to give me an order #. GM Connects.com is an on line tracking service and they have said that there is absolutely no reason for a dealer to withhold the order# if in fact they ordered a vehicle for you. Getting back to the time it takes to receive a car, I've learned that nobody is taking delivery till probably March 23rd. Sorry for the long winded post but this is what is going on and why I'm really upset over this. :argue:

Hey Fire, can you check with some other dealer in your area, then propose cancelling the order from your original dealer and see if they will freak out and force-order you one.

No harm to look around and try. :icon17:

Got back from Maui last night, did a quick QD wipedown of the Z and am probably going to take her to Cars and Coffee tomorrow AM... It was so nice to see the Z, first thing I did was go to the garage when I got home haha.

Anyways, here's a shot of the pool at the house my friend and I stayed at. Still processing the rest of the pictures!

Driving home today the slow lane got stopped up and I got the chance to blow by a whole row of cars with their windows down. I was in third at ~4-5k RPM! Not crazy loud, but definitely loud enough for the whole row to be all like WTF?!:icon14:

Hahahaha!!, I LOVE my new FI exhaust!

Fire - I'm so sorry to hear about your Camaro ordering woes, but not so sorry that you have to hold on to your Z just that much longer! :)

Fire 03-02-2012 07:41 PM

Thanks Happy. Yes the one good part is that I have my Z. I am holding off mods until 100% sure that I will not be able to do the deal with Chevy. I'll know more tomorrow.

I might upload a GoPro pool video later if I have time. I met up with some friends (gurlz) who live there, all of them grew up in Maui but on the other side of the island. Let's just say they are very attractive!

Fire 03-02-2012 07:59 PM

Supposed to get high winds tonight. Hoping for no damage.

gurneyeagle 03-02-2012 08:50 PM

Spent the late afternoon washing and waxing for tomorrow's Coffee and Cars. Hopefully, I can get some good pictures.

Kewl Gurney look forward to the pics.

Going to try and watch F&F without calling Vinnie a wus. Don't think I'll be able to get thru it though. Once he says he's afraid of his car I'm probably going to say " Your a wus Vinnie.":bowrofl:

nick you want mine?
:icon17:

For free? Sureee! haha j/k

I know what you mean about the Post MAF's. Honestly this is why I haven't bothered touching my intakes. When you say you felt a gain you just mean throttle response? Not actual HP? And why do you say it was too noisy? I've never actually been in another Z with an aftermarket intake (most of the local guys have the drop ins LOL).

onzedge 03-02-2012 09:36 PM

I did nothing with the Z's today, but I am home at last.

Apparently the guys with the G37's and R2C's are showing improved midrange but not improved top range like Gen 3's? I wish there were some 370z dynos lol

Its a tough tradeoff, but if you compare r2c to stillen then it depends what your purposes are:

Dyno bragging rights-stillen
1/4 mile-stillen
track-toss up, depends
canyon runs-r2C
looks-stillen (IMO)
just want a more peppy engine -r2c
etc

Are you saying these in terms of Top end gains(stillen) vs Mid gains(R2C)?

I'm most likely never going to install stillens on my car. The top end performance doesn't justify it for me. My options are drop in or R2C. But, if the R2C is going to cause a loss in power I wouldn't bother.. BUT, if it truly adds to the mid range without losing power in the power band that is awesome. I'm tired of everyone sacrificing low/mid gains for all peak top end. I just wish there were more people discussing the R2C's on Z's.

Im saying more for what the gains are useful for. Top end is useful for dynos and 1/4. Mid range is more important for everyday driving, tracking, canyon runs etc. My only worry with the ram style intakes is i feel like the engine heat kills them and after driving for a few hours you will lose performance.

Nick911sc 03-02-2012 10:29 PM

yea, I get what you're saying. If I knew for a fact that the R2C's did indeed boost the mid without losing bottom/top I'd buy them.

happytheman 03-02-2012 10:30 PM

I'm ti-ti. I think I'm going to go to bed and dream a little dream of winding out my little Z so it makes that glorious growling music! :)
