What did you do with your Z today V (ON TOPIC DISCUSSION ONLY)

I don't think we're getting any more sticking snow this season, so I put the summer tires/wheels back on.

Dropped my car off at the shop this morning. Nothings wrong but the PO said he never flushed the brake fluid so I am having them check everything and will likely end up flushing the brake and clutch fluid. Anything specific I should have them check?!

Edit:
Well, things went pretty well with the inspection and they came back with what I was expecting:

Post purchase Inspection
Notes:
Initial inspection reveals vehicle in great condition . Brake fluid tests for high moisture content. Recommend flushing at this time.
Vehicle is also due for a fuel induction cleaning . This service removes carbon from the valves and intake as well as cleans the throttle body.
Time/Mileage also shows differential service and manual transmission service due at this time .

I just picked up the car and the clutch definitely feels different. They changed the brake fluid, trans fluid, and diff fluid as well as induction system clean. I don't notice any difference in the brakes but the clutch engagement feels softer, or more forgiving maybe. All-in-all, the shop confirmed that the car is in great condition. I don't know if it's getting used to the car, the warmer weather, or starting quicker from a stop, but I've noticed the lack of initial throttle response in first. This is one of the things I liked the least the first time around but I hadn't really noticed it much until the past week, or so. Now, I have to decide the following:
  1. Do I want to preemptively get one of the aftermarket options for the weak CSC? It's got 77k miles so it's possible this has already happened.
  2. Do I want to get the RJM clutch pedal?
  3. Do I want to get an oil cooler? (spirited drive this weekend at ~65*F ambient and oil temps went to ~220*F)
  4. Do I want to get a remote tune by Seb? If so, off-the-shelf or custom?
  5. Do I want to get the windows retinted due to peeling at the corners of the front windows, or wait until it gets worse?
  6. Do I want to get an unlimited car wash package?

You want the ZSpeed CMAK kit. get a new clutch/flywheel while you're at it. It's such a great kit and you never worry about blowing the CSC again.

You want the RJM clutch pedal, 100%. Completely changes your driving dynamic.

You absolutely want an oil cooler; it's usually the first mod people do to their Zs.

You can't live without a tune from Seb. I've driven the Z on OEM map (to pass emissions) after Seb tuned my Z, and it was a universe of difference.

Yes. Get one of the ZSpeed options. The CMAK is external and self-adjusting. I recommend it.
  2. Do I want to get the RJM clutch pedal?
Yes. Right away. The OEM pedal is stupid.
  3. Do I want to get an oil cooler? (spirited drive this weekend at ~65*F ambient and oil temps went to ~220*F)
Depends on you. If you don't do sustained hard driving it can be manageable without an oil cooler although frustrating. I went 6 years of daily driving in Texas with plenty of hard driving in the summer heat and never felt like it was that big of a deal. But in hindsight I'd recommend one.
  4. Do I want to get a remote tune by Seb? If so, off-the-shelf or custom?
Absolutely! He can solve your throttle lag problem, too. Definitely get a custom tune. Find someone with a cable to borrow if you need to.
One thing to note is that without additional cooling measures, the 370Z engine bay can get very hot and IATs skyrocket when the car isn't moving. The ECU adjustments in response to heatsoak may be another reason for perceived throttle lag. A tune won't help this.
  5. Do I want to get the windows retinted due to peeling at the corners of the front windows, or wait until it gets worse?
I don't know. Do you want to get them retinted or wait? Just do whatever you want. I'd have to get it fixed or just peel it off completely because it would bother me. But it won't hurt anything to leave it.
  6. Do I want to get an unlimited car wash package?
No!! Those places will just swirl your paint with used towels after a crappy wash. Go watch Junkman2000 detailing videos on YouTube (Junkman2008 on this forum) and educate yourself.

Thanks for your input guys! I just ordered the RJM pedal and I'm going to order the tune from Specialty Z soon. I think I'm going to wait on the oil cooler to see how the temps go this summer as well as the new CSC/clutch, for now.

For the window tint, I'm going to decide if I want to just replace the two windows or everything and go a little darker in the back. It doesn't bother me a huge amount, at the moment, just a crinkling sound when I roll them down/up. The wash thing is tough as I'm a lazy SOB...lol. I've got a bunch of 8-9 year old Zaino products but that's a lot of work! I'll have to check out Junkman2000's vids again as I did way back when. In the immediate, I've got some bird poop that needs to come off!

Ftfy.

Ceramic coats are easy to apply and look good for quite some time with minimal effort. None of the BS 'layering' of coats.
