Both of you are heavy track guys, and I have been eyeing Z1's solid motor mounts for a while as one of my next track mods. Just wondering what your guys decision process was to choose the urethane mounts over the solid mounts. I dont want to regret getting the solid ones if there is a big draw back. Thanks

That was my thoughts about the solid mounts. Would I regret them. I'm pretty open minded to all mods and the cons. But I figured Doran racing uses the poly I would to.

Yeah when I get to the mounts, I'm going with the not-solid ones as well. A little tiny bit of anti-vibration and a little tiny bit of "play" isn't necessarily a bad thing. And yeah, if a Grand-Am team doesn't need rock-solid bushings, I certainly don't

I have had bad luck with solids in past on other cars. Lots of vibration. These semi solids are very firm. No vibration.

Default Z1 Motorsports Poly Motor and Transmission Mounts

For a guy of my kind who loves to shave weight this is a must. These two parts were very simple to install (for myself). The motor mounts may/ may not be done with stock headers. I also have my AC removed so it made it way to easy. So be cautious if you order.

As far as the transmission mount very simple. I just recommend lock tight on the two bolts that Z1 supplies being they are facing the downward intead on upward as the stock were.

I have to tell, you can hardly tell there in there. I felt a little bit but nothing I feel a stranger would even noticed.Seriously. But we'll see in due time.

Do you think that you have to replace transmission and motor mounts at the same time or can you just replace transmission?

What do you mean the motor mounts may/may not work with the stock headers? What is the process for installing them?

You can either or. Both, motor, or just tranny.

What I should of said as I'm not sure how the install would be with stock headers due to the bulkness and heat shieds in the way. And on the driver side due to the AC compressor.

So, just to confirm: with the radiator and whatnot out of the way in the front, the strut tower bar gone, and supporting the engine somehow (hoist, or jacked from underneath), is it possible to install the engine mounts without really pulling the engine out of the car? Ditto for trans?

Oh one more thing I wanted to bug you about Spohn, since you have the same brake kit. No instructions on the pad clips, so I guessed in the rear (the front seems dead obvious). Is this the correct way to put in the rear pad clips (basically, pinched between the bridge bolt and the bottom of the caliper, bowed outwards between)?

That would open it up a lot. The radiator is not a issue. But until I can get a good look at a stock setup I won't be able to tell. Hard to recall. The heat shield might be the worse of it.

The rear is different. But it looks right to me. It should definitly be bowed out.

Oh I have LTH in there already. I was just worried about there being some intrinsic reason you can't jack/hoist the engine a few inches to clear things enough to swap the mount, without doing other major work or completely removing.
