It depends on oil as well, with Liqui Moly and Mobile 0w40, my car got past 265F easily, I think it reached 275, when I use Castrol Edge 0w40, it reaches 265F not as fast and it stays there, on same driving length and style, Motul was identical to Castrol as far as temps, now I am using Amsoil but didn't get the chance to get the car on track.

Interesting. He was using red 50 weight. Better venting would of probably helped in the Florida swap like weather.

I run Enos 0 w50. It will slowly climb to 260 and hold. No limp mode but will pull some timing!

I think Florida weather is very similar to here, hot and humid, but we don't track in summer as temps could go over 120F at day and nights would be very humid and over 105F. Vents will help specially if he wanted to back off for a lap and then continue. Although, redline is highly regarded here as I remember.

Seb recommended it to me due to my use, it was available locally, but when I went to get it, it was out of stock, but a friend got Amsoil dealership here in Qatar and I started using it.

LOL, I have close to two cases because I boght them right before I blew my motor 18 months ago. I guess I am prepared. There are some racing oils out there now in xxw50. I think Motul makes one and I can't remember the other companies.

I upgraded to a Setrab series 6 34-row this year after constantly being up at 260+ with my old 25 row (that's now my 7AT cooler!), and only hit 260 with timing cuts at the end of a long track day with 30-60 minute sessions. Most of the sessions were at 220 to 240.

I ran the stock 2009 bumper with a Fly1 Amuse rep hood. The replica hood has slits cut out in the undershell, a little inboard of the exterior vents. I expect it only does a mediocre job of venting, and am not the happiest with it as a product.

Thanks to the 7AT, I'm always in high RPMs, and downshift very aggressively for corner entry. So this is probably worse for heat than many 6MT drivers.

The car will probably be totally fine in the typical 20 minute sessions though.
I'm planning to add in the trackspec center vent later this year for additional heat dissipation.

I truly believe the only solution to keep oil temps manageable during hot days is to run dual oil coolers with proper ducting

Not a chance. I live in Georgia not far from the coast. It is not even close to the temps I experienced in Somalia or Saudi Arabia. That heat was no freaking joke.

Newby question: What about oil to water heat exchangers for oil cooling. Like the Laminova by Mocal. Are they better than conventional oil coolers? I don’t hear them mentioned much, so I’m guessing they’re not applicable.

You still have to have a cooler for the water side, plus a pump. Too much extra plumbing.

Ah. Makes sense. Sounds like it would over complicate things. Thank you.

Complexity. I believe there are a couple Z folks on FB who have used one and routed the water side to their radiator.
It does add more load to the radiator though, so it's not entirely free cooling.

That said, a lot of cars do this from the factory because if done by the actual manufacturer, it's nicer packaging than a separate oil cooler, and also helps get oil up to temp faster.
