could make a wall too

So we have to wait until October and no manual transmission option...

no waiting if no MT.
dual clutch AT is faking boring to drive. only good for dd, or for racing. doesnt belong on a hobby car... and dat concept looks like shittt btw. |
Not feeling the concept art there... Looks like the end result of throwing a Jag F-Type and a Maserati GT into a blender.
|
Lol, they made it look like a Veloster. /puke
|
I was more thinking that they are starting to look like a Prius. You know they get about 52mpg.
|
|
That is an ugly concept rendering :icon14:
|
Idk, drawing doesnt thrill me either....
50k , imo isnt a good market for the Z, 30-40k is tough enough market. |
|
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! F*#kn bull#hit
|
I'm ok with it. The actual car will be toned down but that's deff a step towards the future.
An automatic is like a B&W tv agreed. Or a date who keeps her pants on. |

That thing looks like a large mouth bass. No way. The Z frontend has always been wedge shaped.
|
|
There have been a bazillion different renderings already and will be a bazillion more before anybody has a clue what it'll look like. Just like the Supra
|
I will say though there are aspects of that one I quite like. And others I do not of course.
|
Any look can be changed with a body kit. 500 HP sounds good though.
Are those mirrors or bug antennae? |
I do hope the new Z whatever it will look like doesn't adopt this trailer quarter glass or whatever they want to call it that they started using in many of the new designs. Just not a fan personally.

At most it would wear 410-420 hp utilizing the Q60 red Sport engine (just like squeezing a few more hp more than the same G37 engine). I'm more interested if they will offer awd to utilize the power or not |

Nissan Z Concept Coming; Production Car Could Reach 500 Horsepower
Not digging this new concept...And 500hp? Could be a direct competitor to the Supra. |
|
Bout damn time!
But I'll believe it when I test drive one. |
Just saw it repeated by car and driver

meh a little bit too late in my opinion

Dual clutch and 400hp twin turbo hell yes.
|
That's just a shitty rendering. I wouldn't pay attention to that visual there. The details about the powertrain are exciting though. Hopefully they offer a manual as well.

Maybe it will have OEM Craftsquare mirrors? :yum: |
No manual, no thanks. If I wanted a dual clutch gear banger i'd get a golf R. This is hobby car for most of us, corvette seems to know that and their sales reflect that.
"Folks always like to know what the breakdown is with the 7-speed manual transmission vs the new 8-speed automatic. For the 2015 Corvette Stingray, that breakdown was 25.6% manual and 74.4% automatic. For the Z06, the take rate on the 7-speed manual was 51.6% while the new 8-speed auto accounted for 48.4%. The automatics started production a little over a month after the 7-speed manuals so perhaps this will change for 2016." This is a perfect example of a hobby car, and hey look its 25% and 51% manual sales, People will still buy it and enjoy it for what it is, but many of us will move on. |
Hopefully the dual clutch will be able to hang with the pdk system.

Disagree. I'm pumped to see what it looks like. Curious if they're being funny saying concept and it'll be out in spring. That would be tits |
Disconcerting absence of a manual transmission in all that talk on C&D.
The better news is that it will share a platform with the Infiniti siblings instead of that modular platform that it was rumored to share with the next-gen Juke. 7 Speed Dual Clutch makes sense in that it will absolutely be shared with the Infinitis that are very due for that, but I'm worried it may be sourced from Mercedes (the only dual clutch offered by Infiniti currently is the QX30, and that's paired with the Merc's 2.0T)... I'll bet money it's either Mercedes-sourced, or Borg Warner has something cooking for this (that would be my preference) All in all, it sounds like that $60k figure will absolutely be seen once you option this sucker out. I always wanted back into a Z, but if they make a manual in this new Z mated to the VR30DDTT, it's possible that drivetrain configuration could make it into a Q50, and a 6MT twin turbo Q50 will be my forever car without a doubt. Now we can all finally look forward to Tokyo and see what happens! |

What I'm really curious about is if Infiniti will save the dual-clutch units for a performance line to throw against the Ms and AMGs of the world.
When they developed the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, they said they decided to keep the 7AT as its transmission because they wanted to avoid the harshness that can come with a dual clutch gearbox because it was still a luxury car. If they maintain that philosophy and approach, we could finally see a true performance arm of Infiniti, while the Z gets the performance bits it truly deserves. |
no stick....no sale
|
Back in 09' the Z was faster than most of the V8 "muscle cars". I can't wait for a Z that will blow that Ford 5.0 away, and with the new Inifinity TT V6 I can see that happening pretty easily as long as they keep tradition of upping the power in the flagship engine for the Z. If that actually happens I'll be waiting for the Nismo before I buy. Looks like I have until about 2020 to save up for it LOL
