To back up your point I currently have a 2015 merc with the 2.0 and dct at my disposal and it is not very good. Hopefully they go with another choice than that or that unit with much better tcm and better clutch packs. Sidenote the missing mt talk gives me a chubby ;) |

I almost did the same lol I'm just really sad it's gonna take 2 more years most likely until it's available to buy. By then it'll already be behind the curve most likely. If they want this Z to sell and work they need to get it out now. Not 2019/2020. |
Just saying, where are you DCT naysayers to eat crow?
|
will be $69,999

This thread already exists... It's litterally 2 threads below.

Nissan is not stupid enough to not offer a MT for the Z right?.....

1) the DCT is going to be shared with the Q60 and Q50, if not other Infiniti models. That reinforces my point about DCT even being a possibility - a point you refused to comprehend. 2) it's still going to touch $60k optioned out. It will cost $50k for a 400hp version. 300hp isn't competitive per your original argument. So the bang for the buck prophecy you insisted upon hasn't quite met reality just yet, so don't get too excited. |

If and when that new Z comes out, I'm sure it will not look like the C&D rendering. I'm also in the camp that believes it will be 400 hp or just a tad bit more, with only a DCT shared with Infiniti and it will not weigh lighter than our current Z. Below is the list of all cars sold for 2016. Look at the number of two seat sports cars sold and you'll see that it's a very small percentage of cars sold. For a manufacturer to invest big R&D dollars on a one off car, with small sales, just does not make any financial sense and Carlos Ghosn is a $$'s & sense guy. So for a new Z to exist, it will have to share a lot of other components with other Nissan/Infiniti vehicles. 2016 Year End U.S. Passenger Car Sales Rankings - Top 165 Best-Selling Cars In America - Every Car Ranked - GOOD CAR BAD CAR |

I'm in with you on your specs predictions. I don't see it being a 500hp hybrid like the article hints as a rumor. I see it being 400hp maybe 425hp to separate the Z and the Q. The nismo will be 450hp since they already stated than an ipl version of the Q was on the bill with 450hp. The dct is fine with me if it works. If it's the same one on that cla merc I have at the house god help us. Weight I'd say will be close. The engine is lighter now and whatever extras for safety I think it'll come in at 3350-3450lbs |
It's gonna be 400HP... I'm guessing it will be called the 400Z

At last, we have information that seems to be informed. I wouldn't necessarily believe all of it and there is clearly information missing (eg., will it be RWD and will there be a manual option and has the rumoured puny 4-cylinder option gone?), but in less than 40 weeks there will be an unveiling of of the 370's successor. Wow!
...and please don't believe the 'artist's impression' rendering from BestCar magazine. Like all pre-concept attempts, it's a horrible mish-mash of bits from here, there and everywhere. Be patient, wait & see :) |

They spoke on that a year or two ago saying they may just switch it to Z and do away with the numbering. Also FYI the number prior to the Z in the name was based on displacement not horsepower so technically it would revert back to being a 300Z. |

Yup but I'd happily buy a 400Z with a small high reving V8 |

Im taking a wait and see approach to these news.
Im wondering if after 30yrs of owning Z's it maybe time to move on. |
There have been a couple of mentions of the stalk like "mirrors" on the concept.
Those are stalks to hold cameras that we can view on our screen. Our Civic Si has one on the right (under a conventional mirror). It's really great, but sorta hard to use at night, lots of glare. Have seen this on several concept cars. |

It doesn't. The RS has 400hp, relatively soft suspension, ZERO steering feel, zero exhaust noise and no LSD. I test drove one and it was a pretty meh moment. The engine was nice but it wasn't drool inducing. The car just had zero edge/excitement to it.
