Just like in that article and with the vision Nissan wants to go with the car you can expect a smaller Z with a 4 cyl turbo before you can expect a 6 cyl turbo. I hope I am wrong as that would break from tradition. But with the pressure to stay competitive and mpg friendly etc etc. Going bigger isn't the safest bet. Nissan will play this close to the vest until they are ready to debut the next model. Maybe Nissan can once again be the innovater and shake up the category while sticking with a 6 cyl and remain very competitive. Only time will tell.

Man this forum makes me think not very many people are happy with their Z. I am looking forward to 2014/15 tho and hopefully a mustang that doesn't look so much like a mustang.

I didn't read through this entire discussion, so forgive me if it's been brought up already, but I just read the other day...forget where, sorry (maybe CarBuzz?)...that Nissan is potentially working on reanimating the 240 to compete with the BRZ/FR-S. They'll probably keep the Z around as a more premium sports car option.

Nevertheless, yeah, I agree with a lot of the sentiment that the V6 needs some upgrading. I love my car, and I always liked the VQ since my Maxima days, but it needs more torque on the low end. Hell, I'd be happy with a moderate HP boost if it got a significant torque increase

And not that I'm concerned with gas mileage (would be driving my wife's Altima if I was) but it'd be nice to hit 30mpg, like the V6 Mustang.

yea its carbuzz. nothing confirmed yet, but its looking like there is a good chance the 240 will come back for that segment and the Z will keep the 6, some version of it anyway.

While VVEL dose a good job, I Feel it is holding back the Tq. Don't get me wrong. The Tq comes on strong and Fast and stays, but it nothing like my old 2006. My 2006 N/a had more Tq then my 2011. My 2006 did not carry the Tq throughout the Pw band like my 2011, but peek numbers where better.
I would like to see a 3.7 TT /w Direct injection @ 500Hp and a lighter weight in the next Gen Z.
Turbo 4 -> Silvia/2x0SX.

The Z car will go 4 pot when the Vette drops its V8.

I'm still sad it doesn't have a strait 6

In hindsight I wish I wouldve kept my Cobalt SS but I do love my Z its gorgeous and RWD. My only real knock is just how expensive the aftermarket is and how relatively few options we have. If Nissan would get behind promoting the aftermarket and working with some of these companies I think a lot more people would keep their Z's

I have a feeling there will be mustang/camaro type options for the next Z like the Z32 had.

Yes, and I doubt we'll get lighter weight with an upgraded v6. I've read in a few other articles they want to bring the Z down to 3,000lbs. To have a v6 and that kind of weight would take porsche pricing.

I dont think so. i mean with some steel parts swapped for aluminum you could save some but then beings in safety issues. stock 370 weighs 3232lbs. 232 pounds could prorbably be shaved without costing ridiculous Porsche "over"-prices.
