Basically same concept as the wire, cept no cutting, no cost for harness / plugs etc.

Default New Findings

I have already replaced my steering lock unit last year

However, I think that the same problem is re-occurring again.... and I think that there are some early indications that area leading me to conclude that the same problem is about to re-occur and I would like to share these concerns with you guys:

[1] I keep having some throttle problems: Sometimes the "check engine" icon is one and I experience up-normal throttle (750/950 RPM),

[2] The A/C: sometimes the A/C unit just turn "ON" for no reason !!!! this is really strange, and

[3] The "Key" icon: sometimes the KEY icon turns "ON" for no reason also - because I remember that few days before my car stopped working the key icon was appearing regularly.

Guys, is there any link between these items ??? I have linked my conclusions to the manual photo which was posted by (GaleForce) Because the 10A fuse location #48 which is feeding the steering lock relay is located in the center between (a) the A/C Relay fuse and (b) the Throttle Relay. Is there ant possibility that an electrical problem (whatsoever) affect the surrounding Relays????

I would much appreciate someone to help me on this matter.
thanks

I have a 2010 and the steering wheel lock just happened at 32,000 miles, i have it at the Dealer now and they say 1009.00 to fix. If you remove the fuse does this cause the security system to stop working?

As Kenchan notes, the security system is unaffected.

Note that you can't remove the fuse while the car is off. You'll have to beat on the ESCL to see if you can't get it to unlock and let you turn the car on to accessory (ACC) mode. Once the car is on the ESCL is unlocked, you can remove the fuse.

As per kenchan and JARblue, pulling the fuse will not affect anything else.

There are MANY threads on this site with more info (see link in my sig). If the dealer hasn't started work on your car, it may be worthwhile to try to free it up the ESCL yourself (eg, JARblue's beat-it-like-it-owes-you-money method) and then pull the fuse.
As JARblue mentioned, the ESCL must be in the unlocked position when you pull the fuse.

Steering Lock: cut one wire. /switch optional

This shows things a little differently. One Leg to the lock, one leg to the CPU but not by the way of the TPRM

Enlighten us to what the difference is.

Also Dai is driving his car around and has called me to inform that everything works as normal with no issues at all.
So it really doesn't matter how differently the other thread shows it this is the best, fastest,no damage to car,the only draw back we found is we actually had to take to fuse out ourselves.

Hmmmm, feeling a little stupid here......

I tried removing the fuse box beside the battery, but after removing the battery cover, rain guard moulding, windshield glass/wiper molding, and attempting to lift the IPDM ER fuse box, I finally gave up! I couldn't lift the box high enough to either open it or disconnect the harness to it from below. Do I have to remove the battery first???

There is a tab that you push and the whole box comes out with the wiring harness attached then you can take the cover off and you should see the fuses.
