So this may be a dumb question so forgive me if it is. Is there an easy way to tell if one's Z is pre-wired or not?

Also, I have one last set of parts sitting on my "Parts that I bought but have not gotten around to installing yet" shelf. They are the Nissan OEM rear fog light and the Motorsports wiring harness with switch. I am hesitaing for two reasons.

First, it looks like there is a significant amount of interior work that needs to occur. Second, have I mentioned that my steering lock mechanism is dead and I am waiting for the part, which will be another two weeks. I mentioned that, right? I think I did.

Mr.onzedge- I looked everywhere under the rear bumper area and between the bumper cover and chassis looking for this harness. I also looked under the trunkliner since I already had it all off. No wires I could find on mine. :) it is some work but if you haven't done already, I recommend doing the rear view camera while you have the trunk liner off..or even the dynamat for the trunk floor. :D

I wired up my switch to the center console using a oem looking rocker switch and fed power from the front socket (which I completely removed).

As for the steering lock yes, that is a headache. 3 RevC's failed already that we know of so my replacement could also fail. Yay. :icon17:

If you look behind the rear fog light you should see the wiring harness clipped on to the left of the fog light bracket if you car comes with it.

I went to Pepboys to buy a new carvac and they didn't have one that I could use within the car so I instead went home and thoroughly cleaned out the old filter and body of my carvac and saved myself $50!

I also took the time to throughly clean my Drying Chamois and Sheepskin Car mitt just to make sure that I am not leaving dirt residue on my car during the next wash

If I have the harness, do you know the best way to wire the swith in?

If you use the pre-wired harness, the best option is to tap into the BCM wiring like in this thread.

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ck-wiring.html

You'll just have to run the wires from the BCM to the center console and connect them to whatever switch you use. Oh, and you'll have to add a diode like Spearfish talks about in the DIY. If you are using a switch without a LED you'll have to run two wires, and with a LED will need four wires.

No problem. :tiphat: I guess there is one better option and that is to buy the Canadian steering wheel stalks. That way you can make it an OEM setup but from what I've read those canadian stalks will run you about 4 bills.

I got some tint yesterday. Sometimes I feel like I should of gone a little darker but I am trying to not give the cops any more reasons to pull me over.

That is a nice look.

You are right, though. Tint is a bad reason to get pulled over. Next thing you know they run you, find outstanding warants, search your car and find the loaded Glock under the passenger seat, see the open Budwieser in the cup holder and you get cuffed. As you are being put in the back of the police car the tow truck driver rigs your Z up and scrapes the be-jesus out of your front spoiler.

Be careful in CA with how much you tint.

SPOHN 01-30-2012 11:20 AM

Drop my car off at FORGED PERFORMANCE for a roll cage. Have back in about a week. Can't wait.

Exactly! I have been running 5% on the last three cars and have countless fix it tickets which I normally just pay the 175 bucks in stead of fixing it. I thought maybe I will go lighter and see if I get hassled less. CHP has been on my case lately.

That's right. Still trying to keep some streetablitiy to it though. Maybe one day full out track. It's hard to imagine not being able to street your car just out of the blue if you wanted to.

hahaha. :D yah, but you gotz your FJ and trailer, etc you're definitely on the right path to earning a full track machine.

i had like 40 sets of tires at one time i'd use up like toilet paper, about 25 different motors, 5 chassis, etc. :)

Awesome. I've seen guys at these competitions pull up in small inclosed trailors for this. Talk about serious.

Not sure over all. I'd hate to even guess. My car really needs to be cornered balanced again. Then I could find out. Seats are about 35-40lbs, spare tire 35lbs, interior pieces, Cats are gone (running test pipes), windshield reservoir, and more little things. So it's really hard to say in the end. But the cage is going to add so not sure till later.

No it won't be. All welded in. Then I still have to paint it.

happytheman 01-30-2012 05:53 PM

I went to give her a proper bucket wash this afternoon because it's in the upper 60's and really nice. Wouldn't you know as I was rinsing her off and unfurling the hose to get more length, I look back towards the house and see a large plume of water where last i checked, there wasn't one!

I walked over to where the plume of water is spouting and realize that the dad-blessed spigot had snapped off! I'm all like oHHhhh Sh!t! :wtf2: It's a good thing we have a shutoff valve just inside the garage, so acting quickly I kill the water.

Unfortunately, this is not something i have the skill set to repair so I'm sitting out in my garage waiting for the plumber dude to show up, which is going to cost at minimum $125!

FML

kenchan 01-30-2012 06:00 PM

mr.happy- doh! that sucks. :( hope you get that fixed soon and bill isn't too big.

my water spigot is inside the garage so i have this hose winder reel thingie next to it. which means even if i yanked real hard the hose reel would take the blunt and not the spigot. not sure how your hose is setup, but something that might help in the future? :)
