Finally changed my oil today to Redline 5W30 with Puralator Pure One oil filter.

Went for a cruise with ZInferno. Hit some S turn roads, some straights. Was a good time. The looks two Nismo's get is crazy.

Oh that sucks...I hate when mod attempts don't work out

I actually baked one headlight and then used a hair dryer on the second...honestly, took about 30 minutes with the hair dryer, wasn't too bad

Bulbs look good!

I detailed my Z this weekend. It took much longer to complete the job than I had anticipated. I think that I needed about 8 real hours to complete the steps: (1) Wash, (2) Dry, (3) Clay, (4) Cleansing, (5) A little bit of swirl removal, (6) polish, and (7) wax. The Z looks phenomenal! Sorry, no pics yet; I still have to do the interior tomorrow.

The clay was definitely necessary. The surface felt like sandpaper with the plastic baggie test. Obviously, my Z has never received a claying. The claying didn't make the body perfectly smooth, but the improvement was dramatic! Can't wait to drive her on the next good day. She's in showroom shape! :driving:

TheGreatOne 03-18-2012 09:45 PM

We had our first VQ meet/cruise here, was 22 degrees which is like 71 F

I was the only 370, couple 350's and the rest were G's

Forgot what it was like to have people staring, getting random thumbs up etc, good times. Got back one cool shot so far

Alchemy, I'm digging the new avatar!

Took my Z out for a drive down to the local Petsmart today to pick up some active carbon for the new 400gph canister filter. Boy, for free pets....these turtles have cost me some $ over the years. :(

Well where do I begin? I woke up early to do the DIY headlight mod. Had my bumper and everything off early!! Took both my headlights off. Dismantled the left one took it inside and boom did not fit into my oven. I bet u guys r thinking what an idiot why didn't he measure?! Well I did, but what I didn't know was that big black piece I couldn't see didn't come off! I didn't want to take the time to do it with the heat gun so I said forget it! So I just changed my bulbs to some 8000k bulbs and put them back in. As u can see in the pics the horizon line is perfect between the two bulbs! I was satisfied with my $35 spent on the bulbs with a lifetime warranty. Then I changed the parking light bulb to a red LED. Very bad A$$!! Pics do not do it justice. Very disappointed in myself today!!

Really liking the red bulb and coating you did on the G3! I also am interested in those 8k bulbs. What kind are they?

DIGItonium 03-18-2012 11:44 PM

I took it to the strip today. The engine didn't blow up (thankfully). On my first run I spun the tires in 1st to clear stuff from the tires. After staging, I jumped the gun in 1st, and that was it. I couldn't get out of gear. Then I barely got into 2nd and spun out. Then I wasn't able to get in gear afterwards and kept grinding, so it was a 24 sec. limp down the strip. The clutch disk pretty much stuck to the flywheel permanently.

I did destroy whatever tread was left on these tires on this short run, so new tires and better clutch disk this week. So for $30, I barely got to finish 1 run. :(

The Berk dramatically improved throttle response and pull up to redline as well. I had a chance to hear it last week when my son took it through its paces after the Koni install. He always winds up through the gears and it sounds great. I don't know how else to put it. It sounds almost as good as my 240Z, almost.

An added bonus is that the Berk has the same aesthetics as stock, so it meets one of my rules about car modifications -- I do not like them to be obvious.

I think I made the right decision on the Berk when I purchased it back in 2010. I spent about 2 months researching cat-backs and there are many good ones out there, but all except the Berk failed me on at least one point including: burnt tips, slip joints, tips too big or not slashed, too flashy, too low to the ground, poor power increase, etc.

Thanks for asking.

Many many thanks for the response. Def sounds like the one for me!

happytheman 03-19-2012 06:35 AM

Nice KingZee! We don't hear about the time people spend in their bays much.

What products do you use?

Kenchan, I know yours will be a Griot's product, but I'm stlli curious as to what you use?

Good morning all! :hello:

gurneyeagle 03-19-2012 06:45 AM

Good Morning All!

The Z stayed parked in the garage this weekend; I didn't even bother to wash it because it's supposed to monsoon tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm off this coming Friday and will give it the full Griot's Spa treatment!

Houston is in the middle of pollen season right now, so everything is covered in green powder. We've got a Z event - wine tasting on Saturday, and then a cruise on Sunday. Looking forward to some spirited drives coming up over the next few weekends.

kenchan 03-19-2012 07:26 AM

Gale- sounds good ! Hope you got some rest.

Happy- I use Griots OneStepSealant. Its their product name. :D

LunaZ 03-19-2012 07:28 AM

BigT 03-19-2012 08:03 AM

I haven't done anything to the Z in about 4 days and counting. My license got suspended for something I didn't do.

That's where I got my tow hook too. Looks like Digi had a crap night at the drags. Is that why they call it at the drags?

TheGreatOne 03-19-2012 09:31 AM

Same here. In Rochester, NY, the mosquitoes have learned to survive and hatch in colder weather. However, yesterday was plenty warm for them. I was battling those guys left, right, up, and down. They got a pint or 2, but I was determined to finish detailing my baby. The whole process spread over 2 days. And yes, I thought about that, too, ... that we might have a hot summer.

:iagree:

Fire 03-19-2012 10:32 AM

Those aren't mosquito's those are state politicians. :bowrofl:

Man! I could have also used some mosquito spray while detailing, and I just realized that I have some in my tennis bag!
