Any regrets on choice of transmission

OK, the GT-R comparison has some up several times here. I even brought it up myself as an example of how performance cars are moving to AT for quicker times.

OK, the GT-R comparison has some up several times here. I even brought it up myself as an example of how performance cars are moving to AT for quicker times.

The GT-R is a street legal racing car ("super car" is the term, right?). Not in the same class as the Z. No well informed car guy is going to walk up to a GT-R owner and bash them for having an AT. Even if they wanted to, the excessive drool would prevent the words from coming out.

It seems that for the most, part, Z owners know what they want in terms of transmission, and are happy with their choice. So I think sonic's initial question has been answered:

"No".

Any regrets?

None. Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

Copying is the sincerest form of flattery. Just look at the 2011 Dodge Charger R/T. If that's not an outright copy of a GTR, I don't know what is.

I wanted the 40th and didn't have a choice on transmission. No regrets at all.

No real regrets, but my clutch knee is killing me. I've driven manuals for 12+ years and my left knee seems to be paying the price for it. The damage may have come from something else, but I'm pretty sure it's all that driving.

Still. The Z is worth it, even with the daily pain. I'm sure the automatic would be close to providing as much fun, but I'm glad I went manual.

You probably have a weak knee. I've been driving manuals for almost 10 years now. Basically been driving manuals since I started driving. No problems with my knee.

lol I think it's funny whenever there is a transmission related thread (AT vs MT) people just start bashing each other for every little thing. Dude really? You're bashing the guy's knee. Something with MT guys and having the need to let everyone know that they got SKILL (and they can out-shift you)

I know that the computer can shift faster than me, but I still like to be more involved in what's happening with the car.
Making us less necessary in the driving process is just one step closer to the machines becoming self aware and taking over.
Skynet FTW!

Only on the stop and go traffic on the way home. Other than that even after not driving a manual for 10 years, Im loving it.

If you regret your transmission choice, your man card should be revoked.

Regret your AT? You should, you bought a sports car with an AT. Revoked.

Regret buying an MT? Get a Camry, nancy boy. Revoked.

Nope. I enjoy having a 6MT. Sometimes it would be nice to have a second 370z with the paddle shifters for cruising though. Since it doesn't really drive like a true sports car, and has such a tame nature, I could see a Z being pretty fun with the auto and paddle shifters.
