Thanks for the info. gotta luv crc. :D

Will be working on my Z tonight putting back the stock intake box. Might have some time for the lip not sure. Too tired today running errands after work.

If you still have the work order, look at the milage when you got there and compare to what you have now. It seems like (possible) someone went for a joy ride. If you wonder if they changed your oil, look at your oil filter, it should be a new one (no road dirt etc) Also, check the dip stick, the oil should be clear and clean. Joy ride is my bet. I would be pissed! This is why I change my own oil.

No joy ride. I took it out of the bay. They have to go past the lobby to get outside anyways.

Red... I think your oil temp was just elevated because don't they usually start the car up and check for leaks/and/or levels?

It doesn't get that high from a short run. The guy admitted he didn't change it, got them to take care of it for me.

What does that mean? They didn't "change" it? change what? The oil? So they took care of it? huh? Sorry I'm confused.

JPTO 05-17-2011 09:17 PM

Did a costco run this evening, Just got my Z a few weeks ago and it's my only car

Upside - fits more than expected

Downside - seems like most of the kids in Markham driving econoboxes* want to race off at the lights ... I'm old and I just want to get my groceries home in one piece, need a cargo net

*nothing wrong with econoboxes, I would've kept mine if I had more than one parking spot in my condo

He drove my car back to his bay, probably smoked a couple cigarettes, and then told them the car was ready. Apparently not the first time it has happened with him.

no way...i expect this from a jiffy lube, but the actual dealership? while they are named stealership for a reason, they usually do their job. sometimes its a terrible job...but they do it! i'd complain to corporate to be honest. our cars have a 3750 mile change interval, and going 7k on whatever fill they give you can definitely lead to some issues down the line. imagine if you got that tech 3 times in a row, or if we didnt have an oil temp guage. no one would ever know

Vince's Red-Z 05-17-2011 09:55 PM

I installed a Escort Radar detector. Hard wiring was smooth. Now I know where all the hiding cops are. One this morning thought he was smooth, I knew of him several blocks away... :driving:

I drove mine to my local Nissan dealer and ALMOST traded it in for a 2011 Maxima...then I returned it home to the garage, got in my '08 Altima, and traded IT for the new Maxima. Now I have the best of both worlds.

2nd oil change

We had midterm primary elections today so I was off from work, went by the Nissan dealer to get the oil changed [8500] miles first one at [2400] miles. Brought in 5 qts of Mobil 1 5W30 and a fram oil filter, they charged me 9.49, talked about getting a NISMO flash tune but none of the mechanics had the software to transfer and convert my ECM, maybe later this summer.

SP00LN 05-17-2011 10:53 PM

Lou@amplified installed my invidia Gemini CBE.

Love it Lou, thx again!!

$9.49 each, I'm guessing?

Washed my Z today and cleaned/treated the seats with Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Wipes. I have to say that I didn't expect much from these little moist toilettes, but for a quick detail i think they did a pretty food job.

What do you all use?

Zforce- something's wrong with your alignment place. most places can get even toe angles on both sides with thrust angle no more than +/- 0.01. not sure why it's so off on both cars. were your cars in an accident?

The camber in the front is non-adjustable so unless you get a-arms no can do.

i would go to another alignment shop if your car is driving werd or tracking to one side. if you're fine with it i guess drive it as is.

I am thinking the same, maybe a dropped plate is all it takes to throw the calibration off of the The Hunter rack.

As far as toe, the Nissan dealer went with Hunter's Win Align software and total toe is what counts versus individual toe matching, so I was told. Not sure if I am biting on that though. I did go with a conservative (tire saving) setting on the toe.

No accidents, and what puzzels me is the great difference in the camber between the front wheels. Makes me wonder if a part has worn and needs replaced. Have 26k miles on the car. These are so difficult to pin point what is throwing the alignment off so much.

How it drives? No pulling or driving weird, actually has quicker steering response since I had the rear camber set to the current setting.

I am going to fork over another Ben Franklin for another alignment at another shop.

Anyone in my area have a recommended alignment shop?

Fire 05-18-2011 06:27 AM

Actually it was yesterday. I took my Z for it's first servicing (1500 miles) and got locking lugs and Z valve stem caps. Also it got it's yearly NY inspection done. The interstate that I have to drive there on suxs. Potholes everywhere. Strangly the only thing I hit was a dead animal on the edge of the road. I had another car infront of me and was checking my mirrors so I didn't have time to avoid it. Luckily no damage. When you only have about 3 inches of ground clearance you worry alot. LOL. Going to do some serious wash and wax today and tomorrow to get ready for the Carlisle Show this weekend. :ughdance:

total toe does matter in respect to thrust angle... but if one side has more toe-in than the other while thrust angle is showing no dog legging there's something wrong either with the machine or your car, imo.

at the end of the day alignment numbers are just reference numbers though... when you got your weight, your passenger's, gas, tire psi, small changes occur. if your car is driving fine and appears to be driving straight (have your buddy drive behind you to verify) i'd just leave it.

as for the front camber hard to say... it could be wear but it can also be just programmed out of the factory. i guess you can get a-arms and then take it into another shop, get it all dialed in. :)

hey how's yours turn out? i FINALLY  got around to this yesterday and trimmed off a little to make it fit. haven't driven the car yet though... no time~ :(

btw, i noticed mine did not come with the t-clamps so asking HPS to send me a set. one of the reasons why i got these tubes were for those clamps. :D

Thanks for your feedback and advise. A-Arms will have to wait due to finances, but I will look for another alignment shop. Would hate to see these new RE-11's wear out in 5k miles due to poor alignment.

kenchan 05-18-2011 01:12 PM

RE11's sounds :yum:

got some spare time during lunch and hopped on over to the store to pick up some protection... well, UV protection that is. :D

this is for my Ings lip... i need a warmer dryer day though... 50's and rain not good.

also picked up some enamel matte-black paint to paint along the edges before i spray the thing. ... and also picked up a sharpie oil-based pen in silver that people stated in the past matches the OE wheel color? really? shall find out. :D

oh no.... you just opened the door for Ken again.... ;)

I use 303 for the interior surfaces, then Wolfgang and Lexol for the leather surfaces.

I love the Meguiar's Gold Class but I have it in the spray bottle, been using em from day one on my seats. It makes the leather look great and it smells good too :)

All of my cars get Meguiars products inside and out. Now for the Adams/Griots/Other elitists to chime in.

kenchan 05-18-2011 02:54 PM

i LOL'ed. :D

i use prima nero for interior plastics (50/50 dilluted with water), and for leathers griot's leather care spray and leather care.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

Amazon.com: Prima Nero: Vinyl, Rubber & Plastic Dressing: Automotive

here's the leather care stuff i use... the leather care spray is a must-have for anyone with leather seats including their sofa's and coach bag collection (wife... )

quickly dries to a matte finish, smells good too. :)

I know what I am talking about. Just because you can get Meguiars stuff (not all of it, but some of it) at Walmart does not mean it is not high quality. I have been detailing cars since my Turtle Wax days back in 1972, when my Dad used to make me clean his Plymouth Duster, and Meguiars product lines consistently deliver great results and are easy to work with.

Also, I am honorary Asian, according to Mr. Kenchan.
