^ The skyline cruise went though that on the way to the mountain... thankfully it was moving east when we were moving west - didn't last long.

TheGreatOne 09-05-2011 09:02 AM

I don't know if its because I had my windshield treated or just the design of the Z, but when driving highway through rain, I don't turn on my wipers...

I think that freaks out some people who I've past on the road lol, but ya, beads and flies right off, love that.

Yep, I use the Rain-X washer fluid in all my cars too. That helps too. The wipers last considerably longer as well.

And isn't It cool how no water gathers on the back windshield? THAT completely explains the engineers thoughts of no rear wiper. I'm so glad they didn't continue down that road. The back hatch looks soooo much sexier without it!

Footloose301 09-05-2011 11:58 AM

Canadians have the rear wiper...

Hmm perhaps it was the European version. Some country out there still gets a wiper and looks better without it.

You darn Canadians got the Nav in the 40ths..... Wanna trade? Haha

HotBlackDez 09-05-2011 02:09 PM

Drove through about 3 inches of rain on my way home today. Didn't miss a rear wiper

DLSTR 09-05-2011 04:36 PM

What did I do with my Z today??

I watched it finally ARRIVE :) After purchase, service and mods(oil cooler, red start button, mats, splash guards etc) it made it across the Atlantic to Germany!:happydance:

More pics to follow after a good clean up and wax and proper registation with German plates. It drove amazingly well and strong. Only has 667 miles, just a few kilometers above 1000. Almost broken in. Bought it off the web from a dealer in Houston(Toyota). Gent owned it for a couple months and let it go.

Baker Nissan North took control of it for me and did all the work prior to shipping. They are a great place!! Thanks to Paul Morgan and his team there for making this dream come true for me. More to follow on driving the Z here in Germany and Europe! Cheers, Dave in Stuttgart! :hello:

I went on a 60 mile cruise today with my friend's modded 997TT... cruised the beach for a bit... it was a blast, but HOT!

That's a pretty cool story, but I don't understand why you would go through the expense of importing a used US car to Europe. Was it a much better deal than buying one locally? Do US cars have any special features that make them better than a US car? Help me understand.

It is a Contour HD, with a suction cup mount. I wish it had a better microphone.

Ryan, that sounds like fun man. That's a sweet looking porsche. Although I must say, your (our) Z still has "presence" :)

I was thinking the exact same thing!

BeachZTT 09-05-2011 08:04 PM

Great stuff guys!

Congrats DLSTR!

Love the vid Mt Tam. :tiphat:

I agree the Z still has presence in the face of greatness.

Both the Z and the Echo, echo look good, onzedge...

No Zing for me today. We took the Xterra and the dog to Corolla/Corova Beach and put about 30 sand miles on her. What a blast!! My dog is exhausted. :bowrofl: I love that truck. Almost four years/96k and not a rattle or squeak. Drove through a half a dozen washouts deep enough to cover the Nissan badge on the nose and she never even whimpered!!! :driving: Wife was pretty nervous though. :ugh2:

Nick911sc 09-05-2011 08:10 PM

I'm excited to get an Xterra, no clue when it will be though..

Now that I have my exhaust on the car I've been bitten by the mod bug.

Curious to ask. I'm thinking of getting sway bars. I know most people say stillen for DD, hotchkis for track.

So that makes it pretty simple for me. Stillens... But then I see people also liking eibach sway bars. Anyone have an opinion between the two?

I am oblivious to the correct settings that should be used on sway bars. I'm looking to stiffen up the ride with a neutral feel(not dialing in extra understeer or oversteer)

I like to mount my go-pro on the drivers side under the Z side blinker. Gives a great view of my rims and suspension working. I also like to mount it inside the car on the rear windshield facing forward. You can see outside the front windshield and also me operating the car on the inside. You can even see my feet working the pedals:tup:

I tried the rear windshield but the rear view mirror distracts or gets in the way. Is their an angle where it works?

Yeah it does get in the way a bit. I like it cause of how much it gets the driver operating the car. Plus you can still see whats goin on outside. But yeah the mirror isnt ideal.

It was fun...so many people snapping their necks:driving: The Porsche is LOUD. All you hear are the turbos. Add that to the fact that it has a full TechArt kit on it, it gets a lot of looks...but he was driving behind me most of the time and he said everyone was looking at the Z. I think we were both just being humble. :rofl2:

LunaZ 09-06-2011 10:00 AM

I've been motoring all over the place in the rain on my nearly dead rear tyres... with the VDC off.
My conclusion is that the car is still very well mannered and you'd have to treat the throttle like an on/off switch to get seriously out of shape.

kenchan 09-06-2011 10:41 AM

no z action for me today. just looked at her briefly this am before going to work.
need to check tire psi this week as temps are coming down.

Yeah, that soft rear sway and the balance of the car do a great job of making sure the front is the first to go unless you really hammer something.

Skeeterbop 09-06-2011 11:38 AM

dropped mine off at the body shop to get couple dents pulled from where somebody backed into me a couple weeks ago.
