they're actually not that bad in price any more. For a decent point and shoot, you're looking at what, 250? a DSLR can be had for 400 or more?

yeah, it's not me... it's all the camera lol... it makes us amateurs look like we know what we're doing :bowrofl:

Hey Red... it's not that hard. I assume you have a nice DSLR camera? Stick with Nikon or Canon ;) After that, for the basics, just set it to auto, then shoot!!! The camera usually comes with the editing software (free), then just load that and shoot in RAW mode. Jpeg is fine too, but RAW has more detail and allows more flexibility in some editing situations. Most of the time, shots look fine as is already, but some require just some minor tweaking to edit minor noise, balancing, tones, etc... but for 80-90% of the shots you will take, the DSLR will look 100% better than a point and shoot.

I actually just got a DSLR. Still haven't gotten any pictures like yours though.:rofl2:

kenchan 05-02-2011 08:35 PM

G2Z- thanks for the info on price. Yah that doesn't sound too bad!

when you're with the "right" one, you don't have to ask...apparently. i had no idea she got it for me. i usually have no idea what to get her other than tiffany or LV products...those r usually winners :D

Vegitto-kun 05-03-2011 05:01 AM

drove her to work.

just noticed the my left mirror wont fold up anymore. it moves and then gets stuck. if I do it manually and I unfold them, then it opens up and when it opens it gets stick on the last bit and then snaps violently to the right place.

also how do you clean the Stillen gen 3 CAI filters.going to clean them when the amuse comes in.

K&N filters are cleanable, but please use caution with the oil. I make sure I use the oil that comes in an aerosol can because you can more easily meter the amount you apply. You do not want to get too much as the oil can foul the MAF's.

Wash the filters with the cleaning solution and allow them to dry completely. Then lightly oil the filter media and also allow it to dry for a while before re-installing.

Today, took her to work.
Over the weekend, drove up to PA, then had a lot of fun on the curves and back roads.
got caught with the top down in some rain, so i sped up to keep dry :)

I tested out the VDC... By accident.

this am i looked at my Z's butt again while backing out my G to work. :yum:

after about 2months of ownership, i think im now use to looking at the Conti DW's round sidewalls. i guess it looks okay now. :D i got my Flip rebate thingie the other day in the mail from conti. now i know why the Flip division went under. :ugh2::rofl2:

thing is clumsy big (much bigger than i thought), almost a useless video camera. my DroidX can do the same thing if not better AND immediately email or cloud it.:rolleyes::rolleyes: i keep it in the garage to take vids of any suspicious cars or activity going around in my community. :)

Yeah, those things are pretty much useless. Only time we ever used them was for high-risk shots.

yah... worst part is it doesn't have a SD card slot to expand memory so i cant even take it on my 2hr drive on the weekends to record it. (max record time is 1hr). :ugh2:

Ah, it was no big deal. It was kind of funny, in a not really very funny sort of way.

I pulled up to a 3-way stop and the other car stopped as I was still rolling. I'm stopping but looking at the guy and like "Are you going to go?!?" and he waits for me to stop. I hate that.

THEN even when I am stopped, he waits like three more seconds, and he's still not moving. I'm looking right at the guy... He's just looking, waiting for me to go, even though he was obviously there first. :ugh2:

So I said screw it, I'm going, and I goosed it a little too hard around the right-hand turn (45 and rainy plus summer tires, and I go through this intersection every day, it's always "greasy" when it is rainy. )

I felt the VDC, correct which was weird (first time) and then I spun the tires again in 2nd and felt the traction control kick in :eekdance: and then I shifted to 3rd at about 15 mph, and drove off. :driving:

I'm sure I looked pretty dumb... Felt pretty dumb, too. I'm an awesome driver. :(

Dude, when I learned to drive, THAT'S ALL THEY HAD! We drive them all winter on bald radial tires AND WE LIKED IT! :icon17:

When you needed to stop, you didn't have this ABS nonsense, you had to pump the brakes yourself, and the only "vehicle dynamic control" was "turn into the skid, and get read for it to snap back around. :eekdance:

Nah, seriously... My 350Z I traded in on the 370 had traction control, but not VDC (Enthusiast), so I didn't know what was up for a second, I started to correct the (minor) skid and it straightened right the hell up without me doing much of anything. VDC is sort of cool I guess. :rofl2:

VDC is a blast. I love how you can completely overcook a turn and it will save you.

:rofl2: hahaha, yah, times have changed quite a bit. the VDC on the Z is quite a bit better than the unit on my 7yr old G35C. the Z's VDC seems more intelligent and not obstructive where as the G's is more on/off type of interrupted correction and kinda over does it slowing the car down considerbly.

either way, it does keep the car from uncontrollable spin-outs in near icy conditions.

happytheman 05-03-2011 09:24 PM

Yeah I kinda tested the VDC this weekend when I banged on it a bit coming out of a turn. I expected the rear to kick out a little...but lo and behold..VDC kicked in and everything came right back under control without any further effort on my part! :)

Arc 05-03-2011 10:28 PM

I had my Z parked under the edge of a tree in the front yard.
Today was actually sunny for once. Should be nice, right?

When I came home from work today, I saw 4 large bird droppings on my car.
My brand new two week old car had 4 giant bird droppings on it!:barf:

It's like the birds couldn't help themselves. They just had to poop right on my Z! What is it with these damn birds?!?! Of all places, they scat my car like it was a target or something. There's plenty of other trees around, and yet these foul flying scum decided to perch in the tree near Z just to dirty it up!!!!
Someone give me a good recommendation on what to use to kill these birds! (No guns or bows please, I don't have a permit for those)

I don't have any professional washing materials, so I had to use a single bucket and a sponge. :shakes head:
The wash came out horrible, dry water spots all over after I finished, but at least I got rid of the incredibly embarassing bird fecal matter off my Z.

Now I want revenge on those annoying flying pests. There's too many of them.

Red__Zed 05-03-2011 10:37 PM

Haha, I never had any birds crap on my previous cars, but they seem to love my z.

kenchan 05-03-2011 10:45 PM

in my G and Z i keep a BCE kit... (bird crap emergency) :D

1. disposable gloves (dont want to touch that salmonella)
2. paper towels.... just get the softest ones you can find.
3. polymer based QD* (carry a small spray bottle)
4. trash bag
5. clean plush MF towel.

*i carry Prima Slick, but you can get Meguair's NXT spray. it needs to be polymer as you might need to use it in the sun. natural wax based can boil up on the hot panel and stain your finish making more work...

how to:
1. put on your disposable gloves.
2. spray the crap with QD and let it moisten.
3. spray the paper towel to soften and minimize swirls on the paint.
4. apply wet towel onto the crap as if you are picking it up, do not rub the towel.
5. trash into trashbag.
6. QD some more onto the panel and wipe dry with your plush MF towel
7. disposable glove into trashbag.

done. :p

Amazingz03 05-03-2011 10:46 PM

^^^ LMAO.. Nicely done.

Hit 'em with a flamethrower http://fc07.deviantart.net/images/la...r_emoticon.gif
then rock the QD as mentioned earlier.

Pics at night please! I like where you've got em located much better than the landing strip!

FromG2Z 05-04-2011 08:35 AM

Rule #1. Never park underneath or even partially underneath any part of any tree. Why? Birds perch on the branches. When they perch, they POOP. Of course you can still get doodoo from parking out in the open, but chances are significantly less than under a tree.

Rule #2. As stated above, carrying QD, water, and several MF's are ALWAYS a must. I just use water first to soften/remove the doo, then follow up with MF + QD. So far, no doo on Zena yet. Now that I've said it, I probably just jinxed myself :'(

Fire 05-04-2011 09:04 AM

OMG walked into my garage and almost got hit by a Robin. Sh!t scared the crap out of me. LOL No poo on the car though:tiphat: I went out there to get my rear wing to take in to be painted. Last part of my aero pieces. Will be done Fri so it will go on this weekend. Yes pics to follow. :ughdance: I had originally intended for the guy to install all my pieces and paint the wing but I installed everything else myself with my fathers "help" LOL:driving:

kenchan 05-04-2011 09:43 AM

hahaha, yah, there's quite a bit of FAT robins right now... im making sure they dont make any nests near my garage. i hate non-edible birds (except penguins. :D )

Fire 05-04-2011 10:27 AM

LOL:wtf2::shakes head:

Drex 05-04-2011 10:33 AM

my reserved spot in my neighborhood is right under a big tree. so much poop. :(

although ive found the birds dont crap on my black z as much as they did on my old blue rsx. every morning there was crap on my rsx, not so much on the z. :) ive read that blue actually attracts bird crap like a bullseye (its like water?), but probably bs.

kenchan 05-04-2011 11:02 AM

interesting... i thought they just crap randomly cause they have no muscle to control their buttholes. :D

one place i will never park under is light poles with utility lines... pigeons.

wish there were like dog whistles for birds. i'd keep it on 24/7 around the house at full blast. :D

Davey 05-04-2011 11:21 AM

Oh, man, I hate bird poop. I do a walk-around whenever I get home and I use some quick detailer to clean off anything like that. At least for the first year or so, I will hand wash my car when I have time and the weather is decent, which is somewhere between every couple of weeks and never, so I can't let that stuff sit on there!
