I tried the Mother's California Gold QD and I found that it streaks a bit. I was a little disappointed, as the Meguiar's Ultimate QD did not. I'm pretty much ready to take it back to the store, but think I'll give it another try just to make sure I didn't over-spray the hood, if you will.

What QD do you all use?

I welcome all of Ken's Griots comments. Let the onslaught begin!:happydance:

I use adams QD

Just curious, but do you ever use it on your glass?

onzedge 05-18-2011 05:34 PM

I use Meguiars Ultimate QD. There's a technique to it. Use 2 microfibers -- one wet and one dry.

I do not

onzedge 05-18-2011 05:37 PM

For glass -- use this:

Invisible Glass | No Streaks | Glass Cleaner

The tricky part with the 370z glass is that it seems to like to spot very easily and more so than in any other car I have or have had. Uh-oh, I hope I don't start people down the Nissan glass-bashing (like paint-bashing) path.

What I found that works good with this product is to follow up immediately with a dry MF to prevent streaking/spotting.

:iagree: We can add it to the "My Engine Runs Hot" and "My Performance Car is Loud Inside" suits. What do you think? I think we should. Have a nice day. Or, as they say at the US Navy Fighter Weapon School, "Have a Bogey Day".

kenchan 05-18-2011 06:20 PM

Werd, I use Griots :D WindowCleaner and dedicated glass MF towel. Its the right towel that makes the difference for glass imo. The glass MF towel I got from Prima Car Care. :p the strands are looped and not cut loose like regular detailing MF towel.

For interior side of the glass I use Prima Clarity. This stuff is safe on even LCD's and tints. :p

Ok so tonight I moved the Ings from here to there in prep for more prep work tonight. :p

ZForce 05-18-2011 06:43 PM

^Weather must be good today for spraying.

Made an appointment for another alignment, this time at Firestone. They have a promo going on for lifetime alignment (every 6k miles or when needed) for a one time charge of $149. Beats the dealer one time alignment fee of $99 and Firestone also has the Hunter Rack...woot..woot.

kenchan 05-18-2011 06:45 PM

Good luck with that ZForce! :)

Nah, i've slowed down on modding considerably compared to a decade ago. :D no time... im just cutting into my sleep time to work on my lip and now I think fatigue has crept up on me. Need to take a short 3hr powernap at work. :D

Fire 05-19-2011 12:10 PM

Good to see you can sleep at work Ken LOL I won't tell your boss, if you pay me enough that is LOL. Today I replaced my fuel gauge overlay that I screwed up before. Made room in the "trunk" for this weekends trip to Carlisle. If it doesn't rain I'm off to the local cruise night tonight.:ughdance:

kenchan 05-19-2011 12:52 PM

Fire- hahaha... :D reality is ive not had any time to nap yet... :ugh2: im on less than 5hrs of sleep the last few days working on that lip so im starting to feel floaty and good. ;) jk im 70% here. :icon17:

have fun tonight at the cruise.

no Z action for me today but did check her out this am while taking out the trash and pulling out my G. :p hopefully tomorrow i can clear the lip ..

ZForce 05-19-2011 02:17 PM

I hear that, been up late three nights in a row, 2-3 hrs sleep per night catches up quick. I called in sick today just to get some more sleep. We have sunny 77-80 degree weather today and the next few days on west coast. I will send some your way.

Today washing car # 1 , probably do a light interior detail. Then concentrate on new GoPro and additional interior camera mount for DSLR for a run on Sat.

Fatalsports 05-19-2011 02:36 PM

Thinking of starting my project to paint my stock Roadster base rims Matte Black today...

Fire 05-19-2011 02:58 PM

Look forward to pics False. I'm thinking of checking into getting my rims and trim pieces changed to flat black. Have to check into prices and who can do it. Also how to do them. Powder coat vs painted.:stirthepot:

kenchan 05-19-2011 03:09 PM

Zforce- sounds like a fun project. i want to mount a camera in my Z too someday.

bout matte-black wheels.... i suppose you can paint them yourself using duplicolor wheel spray paint. ive painted wheels in the past and the trick for me was to get like 4 cans which is more than enough but use all 4 in rotation one after the other before the pressure inside drops too much. just keep touching the can and once it starts to get kinda cold just switch cans. matte is easy to paint vs gloss. :)

hey i ordered up kelly's hood damper kit. :p yet another step closer to the PWJDM battery/brake CF covers. :D

Fire 05-19-2011 03:14 PM

I'd say the wheels will need to be chem. stripped then done eh? You obviously don't know my lack of painting ability LOL. It is matched only by my total lack of typling ability.

Alchemy 05-19-2011 03:17 PM

I usually suction cup my go-pro to the inside of my rear window. You see everything, me, the interior, out the windshield and even my feet working the pedals. But I do like the idea of a interior mount for my Nikon D90, never even thought of that. Not quite sure what kind of pics Id take with it though. What kinda shots you lookin to set up w that ZForce???

Fatalsports 05-19-2011 03:43 PM

I'm gonna follow a DIY Thread on here:
Simple green clean the wheels
200-400 Grit Sandpaper on them
Prime
Paint
Clear

Will post pics showing progress...recently moved and realized I can't find my jack stands :( So I'll prob jack up the front and do the fronts today, let dry, remount, and do the rears tomorrow/over the weekend.

Yes. :pics:

kenchan 05-19-2011 04:26 PM

Fire- no need to chem etch the factory paint off.

below looks good. i'd probably stick with 800 grit and go without priming since there's paint already on the wheel. :)

like-like sticks well.

Honestly I haven't had the time to put my HPS tubes in yet. The drop-ins were a snap, I'll try for tomorrow on the tubes. Got a lot of stuff to put on. Spoiler, Rev/Parking lights, HIDs, wire up my sub, etc.

Apparently I may be getting a Stillen exhaust in the mail shortly..

SPOHN 05-19-2011 08:07 PM

Raised my car up a little. Needed more travel in my suspension.
