Default 300 miles on a full tank of gas

So I filled up my tank for the first time yesterday, I got 300 miles. My round trip to work is 28 miles on the freeway. I didn't get that amount with my 06 350Z M/T and it had a 20 gallon tank.

So what do you think? Personally I think that's pretty good. The rest of you 370Z owners post how many miles you get on your first full tank.

I get between 320 and 340 on my 90 300zx. It's got a 19.8Gal tank. Not bad for a 19 year old car. But the way I drive, I get about 2-5 MPG more than anyone else would. The trick is to keep the RPMs below 2300 when you're not performance driving.

I assume I'll get about 20-22MPG with the 370z on the streets and 26-30 on the freeway. I don't ALWAYS drive like I'm old as dust, but I tend to stay around the speed limit most of the time.

How big is the tank in the 370z? If it's the same as your 350z, 20 gallons, 300/20 comes out to be 15 MPG.

Smaller than the 350's... That's part of the weight reduction Nissan did. I believe it's 19.2 now.

The tank in the 370 is 19 gallons, the gauge said I still had 30 miles left before 'E'. I have a phobia of getting low on gas so I NEVER run it on fumes. According to my receipt I pumped 16.86 gallons so actually I still had 2 gallons in the tank, but like I said I have a phobia....

LOL you're not the only one. I have a habit of filling up the gas tank when it's half empty.

Yep... Should NEVER let it run out of gas... Bad for the pump, bad for the injectors, and it CAN bad for the motor (if it doesn't know how to compensate for the lean fuel.)

Still comes out to about 18MPG. You've been lead-footing, huh?

What is this? You guys don't know how to calculate the MPG without relying on those extremely inaccurate gas gauges? According to Educ8r's number, his car is getting 17.76mpg. This is assuming that the dealer filled it all the way up.

17.76mpg is not that good when you considered what Nissan claimed and that he has 28 hwy mileage. Actually, it's pretty bad. Thats not even hitting the "city only" gas mileage that Nissan claimed. A few possibilities. Either the dealer didn't fill it up when they deliver it or the number is overrated by Nissan, or that Educ8r is driving like he stole it.

^^^ OR!!!! The motor isn't fully broken in yet. (Yeah, I did the numbers too, and came up with the same results... just rounded up to 18)

If the motor isn't broken in and/or Educ8r is just having "fun" with the car, his mileage is definitely going to suck!

The motor has to be broken in, then the gas mileage will surely go up. I learned that from doing some research over at the Honda Fit forums.

I never buy a car expecting the gas mileage posted on the sticker. As of now the car is averaging 18 as stated by Nissan. The dealership did fill the tank. If I were worried about MPG I would have purchased a HONDA CIVIC.

As stated in an earlier post, I live in city with 2.2 million people, in traffic there is constant braking. Oh yeah and I'm not afraid to go the speed limit. When the car is broken in and it still averages 18 MPG I'm cool with that, if it doesn't I'm cool with that too.

The sticker said my Solstice would get 19/26MPG... I beat that by a LONG shot. I get 25MPG on the streets and 41 on the freeway! (TESTED! Did the numbers myself instead of relying on the computer)

I put in a half tank last night, I will figure out the mileage next time I fill her up. BTW not being able to open the fuel flap from inside sucks. I live in Oregon and apparently we are too retarded to pump our own gas, so now I have to get out and open it for the gas pumping fool.
interlagos likes this.

Well, I never went into the "If I worried about MPG" debate. I'm just saying that as of now, your mpg is bad considering what Nissan claim. Not cars in general. However, there are members suggesting the break in period, which I guess you'll find out about your true mpg later down the road. For the driving part, you first said 20+ freeway miles. Now it's constant braking, 2.2 million traffic?

If in fact that the mpg does not improve, then we get to the issue of what you expect from the mpg quote of the manufacture. If the number in real life is different than claimed, then its called faults ad. Just like what RX-8 did with the hp rating. They gave money back to buyers. The fact sheet is what it is. The fact. Now I know that mileage may vary, but like I said before, the number as of right now is below average (not that good) based on the claimed number. Since your added stop-n-go freeway mileage, then i guess it changes my end a little on the mpg.
