List all of my hobbies as off-limits. And she can't tell me on how much I can spend. The problem is the flip side. Her list of things that is off-limits to me.

Had a pumped out 69 Vette before the Z that hardly ever got driven. Sold it and bought the Z a couple of weeks later. Daily driver now so, while it's not as bad-a$$, It gets driven probably 50x more often. It did cost me an Acura RDX and a garage spot before the bitching stopped. One freaking expensive Z.

When I met my wife she was driving a POS Ford Contour that was falling apart and never had the luxury of garage parking. Silly me offered up a spot when she moved in. Fast forward to today, we're married and she must have a garage spot, all the driving aids/nannies that I hate and cooled seats in her car. My fault though, I created an animal.

On the flip side though, she leaves me alone when it comes to my car hobby

Similar problem for me! When we were first married, I let my wife DD my 350z and she really enjoyed most aspects of it. The end result was that she wanted something close to the power and handling of the 350z, but with more modern amenities and AWD, all easy enough to do... except she's also extremely frugal! So we spent a couple months looking before she settled on a 2013 g37x.

She's pretty great though, really good about me modding my car, and was ridiculously excited when I bought her a motordyne exhaust for her birthday (she also helped install it).

This is a huge topic: 70% of divorces are initiated by women, YET, women put pressure on men to marry. It just screams asset forfeiture all over it.

I guess I'm part of the 30%.

I got the house, bank accounts, and custody of the kid. She got her personal belongings, a car, an old washer/dryer set, and $500. Sounds like some guys need better lawyers.

We bought the Z for my wife in 7 years ago. She daily drove it for a year and a half before her commute changed and she needed an automatic for her daily. I then daily drove it until last November when I got a beater for my daily.

Earlier this week she asked for a divorce. I will be keeping the house and the Z as part of the divorce.

For real? Sorry to hear about that (unless of course you're happy about it, then congrats?).

Saw Judge Judy touching a little on this topic. She said as a judge for years, she can't understand why women want to marry a man, then expects them to change. When they realize they can't change him, they now want a divorce.

She then said, marry a man for who he is, not what you want him to be.

While I'm sure, every divorce has it's own set of circumstances, I'm fairly sure this is a big part of the 70%.

You are one patient dood. 17 years. Trust me I got this problem right now wanting to buy a C7 Z06 - it's need a new a/c, need a new roof, need this and that for the darn house. I'll never get that darn Corvette and they keep getting more expensive each new model.
