Custom ported and CNC throttle bodies, upper and lower manifolds by Synergy Composite

This guy quoted me $200 with a 1 week turnaround (including shipping both ways). Maxbore.com throttle body boring service and repair I'm gonna do it, just haven't gotten around to

Not a bad price with shipping. Actual labor cost then seems on par with IPS. He told me most TB's (they are a GM mostly company) like the huge corvette TB's are at like $65-70 each. So $140 plus shipping for us I'd guess.

Exactly, because it's two of them.. twice the work and twice the materials (includes new butterflies and stuff).

Wait so $140 for IPS with knife edge and PnP, his are $179 PnP but its PnP'd all the way through with a new BF. That's a good cost. Will $39 equal more power, hmmm?

Not bad for 200$
I strongly suggest to do more than just boring those TB

he has another option for those TB which is TB Shaft machining. $35 each.
since you can have quite a bit more flow doing this.

its kind of odd he doesn't have a knife edged butterfly plate though...

This is what I used for the pass few years

In your opinion, as you have experience with bored throttle bodies, will I have any tuning/idle problems if I go this way?

you will need to adjust the idle screw which look to be locktighted very strongly btw.

then if you know what you are doing with the tune. you wont have any problem

again,
I prefer to mention it often, you need a different intake setup other than OEM because you MUST have a bigger intake tube especialy the MAF tube. if you arent doing it right , boring a TB to his maximun as I did , you wont get much of any gain
this is boring 2.5mm out , cut the shaft in half , flush screws , arrow edged butterfly plate.

edit again ,,, if you dont have a very good flowing exhaust ... forget about this mod ! ,,

Can you run without a tune?
No, I don't want max power. Just will it run ok without having weird idle issues and such?

if you still have the stock airbox, yes you could run without a tune, but I dont recommand it at all !

but any bored out TB , you will probably have to adjust that idle screw.
I had in my case, it didnt let the engine run lower than 1200rpm

I have G3s.
And forgive my noob-ness to this topic, but idle screw? I thought idle and such was ONLY controlled by the ECU on these newfangled cars with their computers and all?

i wonder if my current intake/exhaust set-up meets the requirements you mentioned for actual gains from a TB bore.....hmmm lol

i know my intakes are larger than stock and i believe larger than G3's so i should be good.

I think you'll see a gain no matter what you have. But like a tune the biggest gain will be if you do it vs not do it and you just put parts on. Better the setup the better the gain.
