I will also but only until I have the chance to buy them. Hopefully install them myself.

tbh, i wont run the canned tune any more than just to get myself to a shop for dyno tuning. we have a licensed uprev dealer here in town, so if he can dial in my afr's and boost, then i trust that he got the job done (he's very good at what he does). that way, i can trust myself running gaugeless at least until i found the gauge mounting solution i am going with.

spoke to gtm a while back about gauge solutions and they said they are having a bunch of people running gaugeless now

SPOHN 05-01-2013 08:21 AM

Great tune it's not necessary. But having your tune check out from time to time is a must IMO. but like I said before a boost control is a must have. That's just me. There's to many things that might happen.

blackonorange 05-01-2013 08:57 AM

Spohn check your pms homie

how easy/hard is an EBC install

SPOHN 05-01-2013 09:35 AM

There a good bit over a typical gauge. The one ill be running has to be wired to the ECU with two wires (not all boost controllers are like that). Then power to the gauge, then the harness goes to the stepper motor that controls the boost (that's mounted in the engine bay), and then from there you have to run three series of vaccum lines ( intake, wastegates, and turbos). The two wastgates and turbos have to be T tapped with the vaccum lines. Also making them as short as possible. So location of the stepper motor is somewhat important but not a big deal. Just depends on which company you buy from. Mine is a HKS EVC. It's more advanced.

Footloose301 05-01-2013 09:40 AM

That's what I'm going to go with as well

edub370 05-01-2013 09:41 AM

thanks. that doesn't sound too crazy. i've done a mbc install on my volvo and it just sounds like the harness is the only "extra" part in the equation of an ebc over and mbc. if someone isn't changing boost on the flyt or switching maps, is there and advantage of an ebc over an mbc?

I did mine by removing the dash to get the stock ones out. If I had to do it again I would just break them, because you have to use a dremel on the stock covers to make them fit.

I have a few picture's of what I did I will put them in my journal.

SPOHN 05-01-2013 11:09 AM

For myself I've always been lead to believe that EBC are better. I'm getting the HKS EVC due to the tuneability of it and the way it reads several parameters to monitor boost. And along with the nice display it comes with.

No, we're messin around. Would be very cool though. :driving:

NitrousZ34 05-01-2013 12:29 PM

Its always a good idea to run gauges no matter how great you think your tuner is. You never know when something can go wrong. I'd always pay a little bit more to have a piece of mind knowing my car is running the way it should be.

Footloose301 05-01-2013 12:42 PM

Agreed. Even with the GTM tune, which is supposed to be very safe and somewhat conservative, I will only use that until I have my gauges and the cash for a custom tune on a dyno

Dzel 05-01-2013 01:06 PM

I'm sitting on my kit till early next year then it's off to JTran for install and tuning!!!

gbrettin 05-01-2013 03:31 PM

So.... T4 pricing at 100?

*crickets*

?

edub370 05-01-2013 03:43 PM

^^ GTM?? whatcha think?

Z370Z011 05-01-2013 03:47 PM

Dzel 05-01-2013 03:50 PM

SPOHN 05-01-2013 04:16 PM

We should be lucky there's even a T2 pricing more of less a T3.

There is not going to be a Tier 4. Tier 1 pricing is a steal and Tier 3 pricing is outright robbery. lol

Dzel 05-01-2013 05:46 PM

Mike, can't the kits be shipped earlier than June/July; given the number of ppl signing up and by the time one gets it installed half the summer will be done. Won't give us too much time to enjoy this kit.

i'd rather them get the kits out a little later but have the them 100% spot on, over rushing them out with a bug or 2. I'm about as ready as u can get for this release, but i want them to get the r&d completed before shipping any out

zakimak 05-02-2013 09:47 AM

"come on...Tier XXX or more free stuff"

Classic case of never enough. Guys GTM needs to make money to stay in business and continue to develop products too. If they think they can do it, they probably will.
