Haha, I've experienced turbo cars, and it's not necessarily the turbo, but more how it's implemented and tuned with the chassis. I'll enjoy a car that perfectly balanced over anything that's just fast in a straight line, but everyone is different right?

That and the fact of everyone i know with a boosted Z is always working on their car instead of driving it...

Well I guess some of you guys don't come from my era. I grew up watch Prost, Niki Lauda, Senna, etc. All driving turbo cars that were a dang hand full. That is what I enjoy. Not some perfectly balanced linear power curve car. That doesn't show any driver skill at all in my opinion. Keeping a car that is a monster under control does to me.

Loved watching the old Porsche 917's and the 936's. The 917's, they could turn the boost up and get close to 1,200HP on a car that weight almost 1,800 lbs. It was the car that killed the CanAm series.

Those are forumla cars, not street cars. Anyone with some sense would want their street car to be reasonably controllable.

And Niki would be the first to let you know your car was sh-ite if the balance was off. Part of the driver skill is communicating to the engineers on how to improve the car. That's what I did with mine with my tuner. It's a part of the process of being a complete driver, not just being a hot-lapper.

Part of being a good driver is being able to adept to a changing car and track. And being able to drive around a car's faults too. A balanced car to one driver maybe off to another driver. Driving styles plays a lot into too.

By the way, my car is reasonably controllable to me. I am the nut behind the wheel and the car does what I tell it to do. Now to someone else they will more than likely kill themselves. I like my cars to be a handful and take some skills to master. That is why it is enjoyable to me. I like a challenge. I have been driving cars like this for years. Probably before you were even born.

I wonder why we are both like that. We both came from the era of NO nannies. It was all you. If you made a mistake, it was gonna hurt a little bit. LOL. I have been in the ditch a couple of times. Friends I grew up with still wonder how I am still alive with all the crazy chit I use to do. My best friend from my home town will jump in a car with me in a heartbeat. He is not afraid at all. I gave him a good ride in the Vette the last time I was down there. His dad freaked out because he got in the car with me. That was after he told his dad how fast we were going around a very sharp curve. I never looked at the speedo. LMAO!!!

If your car is controllable to you that's what matters right? Just don't go making faulty comparisons between street cars and 80s era turbo F1 cars. (which was my point). The way the cars are engineered are wildly different, as well as their intended purposes.

Also, there's really no need to play the "I'm older than you, so I know more" card here. Just because you've been around more doesn't mean I haven't done my homework researching and experiencing different things related to the subject matter. It's a useless qualifier that isn't constructive to the discussion.

Anyway, good luck with your build.

My dream car growing up was always a Dodge Viper because of how raw people made it out to drive. Not much fun in a car that is all balanced because it doesn’t require much driver input. That well balanced car can be driven well by any ole shmuck at a track without much skill. Slapping down an sub 10 second pass on asphalt is feeling I cannot explain. In my personal, physical experience, boosted vehicles are superbly more enjoyable. The thrill of trying to hook and book a boosted car, is greater than the thrill of driving any NA Z imo. There is a reason we have multiple types of tracks though, to each their own.

2 years ago. I had a chance to drive a track prepped 16 Viper ACR with a sequel tranny. Over 800 hp and torque. That car. It was either trying to kill you, or break lap records.
