Alright fellas, time to add another feature to this thread! I've searched for a bit on the forum but all the responses were opinion from people that have never had them installed and "they ruin the lines of the car!" whatever that means.

Looking at the Varis Air Vents to go along with the Varis Cooling Bonnet 2. Looking at the position though, it looks like they will be bringing air flow right above our intercooler into the blow off valves so idk how much they would actually help. And coupled with the hood with vents could that cause TOO much airflow at say half mile events when you get upwards of 170+? HotRodz has them so excited to get some real opinions!

Go back into the thread and watch the video on aerodynamics and air flow. You need to figure out what the cars purpose is, instead of throwing money into parts.

I have a problem with front end lift that starts at 120-130mph or so. Be careful with what you do. You can make it worse if you do the wrong thing. Most off the shelf parts are just for looks and do nothing for the Aero. Get with Hotrodz, he knows someone who can help you out with your Aero.

I smell some upcoming diff explosions. End of March or early April, a few of you want to do a group buy for a Winters quick change diff?

I don't think they are needed as of yet. Transmission is more likely to chit the bed. MA already sells the modded subframe to fit the Winters quick change diff.

Hi Ryan, aero is a quite complicated and I have done some research and talked few pros on the subject for a circuit track car. The referenced videos are excellent resources.

So if you aren't going to do more straight line events you want to stay as streamline as possible. A vented hood is a must for the Z. The only aftermarket hood I would buy at this point is the INGS+1Super Taikyu Racing Bonnet. Was specifically made for track car 370z's in Japan. There are very few in the US. The placement of those vents are in the exact same spot that the Trackspec hood vents are supposed to be place. The Trackspec vents were designed through CFD and most everyone I have spoke to or read reviews about indicate about a 10* drop in temp to go along with the benefits of additional downforce without increasing drag. If you want to improve the efficiency of your hood vents then you will need to duct the air coming into the front of the car. It will move air more efficiently through the engine bay and the hood vents. You will probably want to get fender vents or vented fender to also reduce high pressure areas caused by the wheel wells.

Spooler runs tall and wide tires so his ability to lower the car is limited. I have seen enough data and CFD diagrams to show lower the car by one inch will lesson drag, but I'm not sure how much if any over 140 mph. A flat floor is necessary to decrease drag significantly.

Also should consider a front splitter of about 3 to 4 inches. Again there is the benefit of downforce, increasd drag and improved front end stability vs lift and increased stability at higher speeds.

Lastly, in the rear I would stay with duck bill or shot wing like the Nismo or Amuse. If you are serious about getting rid of in the rear of the car you will need to shave your rear bumper. Rear bumpers are huge parachute if you don't have a flat floor. I had mine shaved and you can see it in the video I posted.

Anyway I hope this is helpful. I know some of it is extreme as it is all about what are you chasing in the end. My car will seldom see more than 140 so maximizing downforce for most tracks is the goal since I have enough power to overcome the drag deficit.

Thanks fellas! I didn't watch the videos initially bc they are so long BUT they had so much great and useful info. REALLY glad I took the 45mins+ to watch both. Especially the first video in regards to my front end. It's a little overwhelming but just means each part I add, I need to extensively research and will do so! Especially considering the cost of so much of them. Thinking of avoiding the air ducts. I mean the filters are RIGHT where the LED lights on the v2 nismo bumper are, anywhere else it appears it won't do much. I MAY be able to go below, but truly wonder how ridiculous that would look. lol I'm not needed to be professional, Just looking to have fund. Sometimes in a straight line, sometimes in curves, and sometimes to the grocery store. lol I think I'm more concerned about looks but not sacrificing performance and THAT's what I need to keep an eye on. Especially considering the APR GTC-300 that I really am in love with.

Bob, you never cease to amaze me and thank you so much for taking the time for a detailed response! I love all your knowledge and we are lucky to have you as part of the FI brotherhood Your car is well beyond what I think I will ever be. Right now I wanna go fast and just look pretty. lol! But from those videos and what you've mentioned, those ducts would have been a waste. I REALLY like the idea of ducted the airflow from the front grill into the intercooler. That seems like such an awesome concept. And I will certainly look into the hoot you mentioned! I really loved the looks of the Varis Cooling Bonnet 2 which to me looked like it would drastically improve temps, but not sure on the drag side of things. So more to look into, but thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
