I have a question for people who installed this kit, how did you get your car to your tuner? (I know some of you are doing remote tune) I am thinking of renting a uhual trailer but wasn't sure if I could drive it up the ramps onto the trailer after the install... the car should run good enough to go that short distance right...and not really hurt anything?

or I just get it towed to my tuner (about 60 miles away) which would probably be a lot more expensive than a 40 dollar uhaul rental

Having issues starting the car... I switched from 600cc to 1000cc injectors. Shouldn't the car at least start? Or do you think it's running too rich and causing it not to?

If you didn't tune for the new injectors, don't attempt to start it! Your tune needs to be rescaled for the injectors.

Really? My buddy installed a twin turbo kit for his Z and the tuner said it was ok to drive to the shop. Just to stay out of boost. It fired right up and he drove it over. No issues. I didn't think the super charger would have any issues. : /

Yes really, if the ecu has the capabilities to adjust the fueling of almost double the injector, then this ecu would be the first I've seen with that range. Injector scaling is pretty specific. I haven't heard of anyone getting away with scaling an injector 400cc's (x6 injectors) off. That's A LOT more fuel being delivered to the motor than the car thinks is getting delivered. Was your friend on the stock, untouched tune?

Yea he hadn't tuned it yet... He drove it up and then got tuned. I stopped messing with it and going to get it towed to the tuner. Thanks for the info bud... I honestly didn't think It wouldn't turn on. You saved me a big headache of removing the manifold again to check the injectors.

If he is towing it to the tuner, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that he will be on the dyno already.

My A2A install (using the stock canned Stillen tune) starts fine and idles fine but the drivability sucks. The tune is waaaaaaaay to lean with this setup. I finally got back to working on the car and took it for a short drive yesterday after replacing a bad fuel pump. Because the last time the car was driven (low fuel pressure) the ECU had fattened up the AFR to the point that it would hardly idle when I fired it up. After driving it around for about ten minutes it finally settled down at idle. Wide band says 14.4 AFR which is good. Driving the car is another matter though. When accelerating under normal (no boost) driving the car accelerates ok but as soon as I reach a no load cruise speed the AFR goes to about 17.5 which is bad, very bad. The car runs rough and isn't happy.

My plan is to go ahead and order a EcuTek kit along with license and get the car so it will drive so that I can get it to the tuner I want to use or have the Zen Master Seb remote tune it for me. John Visconti sells the EcuTek kit and also does remote tuning but I haven't seen many reviews on his work. Anybody got an opinion on John Visconti?

My Supra buddy is willing to help and he tuned his 800hp Supra himself. OMG, what a beast! His car has 220,000 miles on it and is still running super strong!

Back to what the OP was asking, my experience says that unless you have a AFR wide band gauge and know what the AFR is, you should not drive the car to the tuner unless he is located at the end of your driveway. Burned valves and pistons can result from running a lean mixture and oil wash down and ring damage from too rich of a mixture. Slightly off is no big deal but way off can cause serious damage.

If you get that Ecutek then get the very inexpensive map sensor and map tune. Almost every other kit i sold has gone this route.

These other guys that have done this should chime in but you swap that map sensor on the back of your manifold to a (3bar?) map sensor then tune on MAP instead of MAF under WOT conditions.

Someone should throw up the link to the sensor please.

Interesting. What the heck, with all of the money and effort into this project I'll look into it. Thanks Top!

I went with Visconti on my first EcuTek tune and I thought it was a night and day difference from my Uprev tune. Seb's tune was much better though and his communication is on point. I actually reached out to Visconti first to redo the tune, but he never got back to me after a few emails. He is pretty notorious for this unless you are one of his GTR clients.

As for the external MAP sensor, you'll have to contact Specialty Z to order one. I believe Seb did a hybrid tune with mine, but I actually forgot to confirm that with him. It was supposed to utilize both MAP and MAFs for tuning, so you get the best of both worlds.
