So who is running test pipes here? I am trying to figure what to do. I know this has been talked about. But the conflicting answers are extremely confusing. Any advise?

I'm more worried about performance with this supercharger, not the sound or smell.

Cats will most likely fail, clog your exhaust and go boom

Check my sig. MD Arts
Cats are probably ok for 9psi or under. Better safe than sorry. |
Topgun, do you have any video's yet?

Im running Berk test pipes. Definitely recommend them over cats like Top said cats can potentially cause major damage.

I had HFC'S and switched out to TP's.....ur EGT'S will go up as ur F.I. so I just decided to go with the TP's to rule out burning them up.....There's not that much difference in sound between HFC'S and resonated TP's....but since smell and sound don't bother u go for the TP'S FTW!!!!...There's more to gain using them. |

One thing I forgot to mention is that the MAF voltage readings were exactly the same from side to side. This is important for proper idle. That means the Y pipe is split perfect so both sides, both throttle bodies are receiving the same amount of air.
I forgot to tell the tuner to take a screenshot or I should have snapped a pic of the laptop with my phone of the Maf readings. I am going to redyno and I will do it then. |
