Apologies I thought it was in the basic manual but checking my PDF its US specific. The service manual however, is world wide

So for North America (and that includes you I know ) its 5w30 only.

Yet for the rest of the world there is this lovely Blurb and chart:

GASOLINE ENGINE • 10W-30 is preferable.
5W-30 is also preferable and will improve fuel economy.
If 10W-30 or 5W-30 is not available, select the viscosity, from the chart, that is suitable for the outside temperature range.

Chart shows you can run 5/40 in the right temp range, even 20/50.

Out of warranty, my choice of year round fill is likely going to be M1 0/40, which is a 'light' 40w with a fantastic add pack for the price.

Under warranty (still is) its been a stead diet of 5/30 full Penn Ultra.
