i'm really looking for feedback on, given what I mention above, should i go uprev or cobb, custom tune or otherwise, and any other sage advice you guys would offer up... and if custom tune, does it matter who I take it to ? is it worth a pilgrimage to a particular shop outside of AZ ?

Yes it does matter who you take it to. Take the vehicle to a shop that is very thorough and will tune it the way you want it for the setup. I'm Uprev FTW.

If you are so damn quick witted you'd figure out we have a website, on that website is a contact form. As a matter of fact it has my personal cell phone number listed and I don't remember getting a call from you yet.

Obviously you're not that interested in much more than trying to stir up some ****, and thats cool with me. Just don't expect me to read a bunch of nonsense online then be anything more than a "money taker" when you show up at my shop. Act like an adult and you might get a bit friendlier service when you open my door.

Also we're not putting anything off. We're not quick to rush into things and as a well respected company we fix issues if they arise rather than brush over them and just tell people to suck it up.

I'm a consumer myself, and I sure as heck wouldn't talk trash to someone I was trying to get service or support from.
You taking it more seriously than it was meant to be.

It was meant to be tongue n cheek and no trash talk intended. Just joking because I couldn't get a straight answer out you and was interested in getting my car done. Remember..... you made the post announcing it was ready?

For some reason you would not respond to straight forward questions and solicitation. Trying to get the car done before it went into a shop for some minor repair this week. Plus, business trip planned next week so my schedule was limited. Sorry, my biological clock is ticking and wanted to hit the track with it done this year.

With that said.....don't expect to see me anytime soon so it appears neither one of us has anything to worry about. I can probably somehow live w/o ya. It may be hard, but I'll just grit my teeth and cry in my soup.

pretty sharp for a tongue-in-cheek comment

anyway, i was talking to some of the folks at church automotive nearby, and they also recommended that i get an uprev unit. i'm hearing a lot more support for them than cobb; i don't think i'll take the car out on tracks enough to warrant a custom tune (i don't even know how much that would run me)...

but that's just my thinking right now

- I also have some light weight drive train components (clutch, flywheel)
- I do not need multiple modes (switch via cruise control), and in fact that'd prob be frowned upon by my sanctioning bodies
- I want some gain through tuning, but more importantly I want to flatten the power curve as much as possible so that I optimize my WEIGHT/POWER ratio for classing purposes, and get the maximum area 'under the curve'
- I'm located in phoenix, az

Thanks!!!

Travis, right now almost all the NISMO SCCA/NASA cars are using our software. The stock torque curve on the 370 is damn near flat as possible. Your mods though are probably throwing things off a bit. Contact TIM @ Xact and we'll get the software out to him asap.

Church isn't expensive and I'm pretty sure a custom tune from him using Osiris ends up being about the same as our Osiris Standard. Osiris Standard is $200 more than just the Osiris Flash that our Pro Tuners use because it includes the Cipher cable.

I'd give Shawn a ring and get an appointment set up with him.

Well it's not really on my radar until next year at earliest, but good to know. Shawn's taken care of me so far, and I'm happy with their shop, so I'll get back to them when I'm ready.

Thanks for the info!

FYI to Uprev. I have the Stillen Gen 3 intake, headers, HFC and CBE. I added something called Fang Vents invented by Modshack. Directs air directly to the intake filters. No tuning done. Car put on dyno and checked out. No air flow problems. I questioned this and was told I "could run it like I stole it". Just a little something to throw in the mix.

Each car is different so what works well on yours may not work well on another. Also what shop did the dyno work? Have an AFR reading along with the dyno chart?

Uprev or anyone, Im a little confused on your standard tuning option. Coming from a turbo car the tunes were mostly generic to your ECU and what mods you had done and they just upload the tune to the ECU without putting the car on a dyno. So with your standard tuning is my car put on a dyno to tweak for my mods? And if so do I have to pay for the standard tune and the dyno time too? Thanks.

We sell Osiris Standard mostly for people that aren't close to a Pro Tuner. The idea of a Base Tune doesn't really sit well with us, as each car is different. We offer our eTunes for those customers so that they aren't just left with a base tune, it can be adjusted to be safe on their vehicle.

We generally have customers work with a Pro Tuner if they are in range of one. A Dyno Tune is always preferable obviously. You can not do a generic base tune for a forced induction vehicle, unless of course you're the person making that FI system and have done the needed testing. So we don't directly offer Osiris Standard for forced induction though our OEMs like GT Motorsport do offer it with their turbo and supercharger systems.

We can work with the base tune and our eTunes to provide a decent upgraded tune, and the more accurate data we get back the better the eTune will be. So doing data logging with a dyno helps.

You can always purchase Osiris Standard and then work with a Pro Tuner to do a full dyno tune, our set up is very flexible. One of the nice things if you are within range of a Pro Tuner then you only need purchase Osiris Flash Service from the Pro Tuner and spend your extra money on the Dyno Tune. If you'd like you can purchase Cipher later from the Pro Tuner if you'd like to do data logging.

OK so with the standard I get the areas listed on your site tuned. Do I need to download my ECU with mods to you so that you can retune and send back to me? Sorry for the noob questions but still need clarification.

The last post obviously was not tongue in cheek by any means. Something just plain doesn’t add up nor feel quite right... so, no thanks Homes. In the beginning however, very much tongue in cheek as the genuine interest to go to their facility was legit and bewildering as somehow couldn't click asking very, very simple questions. You tell me…..Asking what kind of dyno do have is somehow difficult or inappropriate?..??

The AccessPort is already paid for (neat little gadget) and appeared last dyno session to finally begin to effect the Fuel/Air tune so we’ll run with what we have. Next tuning session we’ll go a little deeper playing more with the timing which so far has eluded me with a mysterious mind of its own as the Accessport appears to not affect it to date.

We'll see what Cobb what has done to further progress the software in addition to my ability to figure out how to effectively affect and find the best timing. If not.... It’s pretty close and N/A tuning does not grow giant bean stalks, its inching along. Don't let anyone BS you differently, “Pro Tuner” or not.
