Is Tuning Worth It? Dyno Results...
2012 Nismo with 700 miles on the odometer. 106 degrees during dyno pulls.
Installation of parts and tuning was done by Jotech Racing in Garland, Texas. Mods: K&N Typhoon Intake Megan Racing resonated test pipes Dyno #'s after mods without any tuning: 278 RWHP & 228 RWTQ Dyno #'s after mods with tuning: 301 RWHP & 245 RWTQ I was running on a tight schedule so we skipped the dyno of the car when it was stock so that the guys could get right to work taking off the cats. I need to scan the dyno printout so that I can post it. The difference is very significant. Sound is nice and deep without being raspy and there is zero drone. This combo is probably the best bang-for-your-buck mod you can do on a NISMO. I am very happy with it!

How much did this cost you? I recently purchased a 2012 Nismo and have FI CBE and HFC's on order..

Your car ran pretty crappy for those mods pre tune, especially for a Nismo (If you were using a dynojet) For them to bust out 23whp from a tune, I'd say that was definitely worth it. I'm comparing that to my experiences below.
My baseline was 270whp 225lbft tq on a brand new MT. I added headers and exhaust with a HFC and I jumped to 300 without tuning, on a dynojet. But that was measured in DIN, SAE is probably closer to 265 and 293 hp. A month later I added an AEM CAI and NST pulley's and jumped to 316whp and 245lbft of tq, again no tuning. After fighting an SES light and running super rich, I got it tuned. This time just before tuning with all the mods, I only made 281whp... So I went from 316 to 281, same car same dyno, same mods. Big diff though were temps. the 316 Dyno was in March, the 281 dyno was in early August. But like you, after tuning, I jumped back up to 306 whp and 236lbft tq with tuning. I still think something is funny going on with the car, but point is, you picked up a lot of ponies with 2 mods and a tune. Anyone else thinking of tuning with a modded vehicle, as Nike would say "Just Do It"

Tuning cost at least $300 for the program, $400-$500 for the tuning. Upgraded Uprev costs $500 and you get a OBD2 cable that plugs to your laptop for datalogging and monitoring as well as 5 etunes. The last option runs $700 for the software but everything is unlocked and you can do the tuning yourself or take it to a tuner that does not have Uprev licensing.

tuning is definitely worth it, i gained 11hp and 22 ft lbs of torque when Z1 tuned my truck with uprev. the main thing is to be sure to have all the bolt ons done you want first. that way you don't have to redo the tune later

Tuning is worth IMO, I you may only see 1-2 WHP increase up top, but all the power is made under the curve. Your thorttle respones will be a LOT bettter and overal driving the car will be fun, You should see a solid 15+WHP in the mid range after the tune.

yea i couldn't agree more, i gained 20-25 ft-lbs of torque all the way across the curve. that equates to about 10% power gain. 11hp may not sound like much but 10% better torque (the real number, remember horsepower is a calculated number) is definitely an improvement. also, keep in mind my frontier only revs to 6400rpm, if it went to 7500rpm, that hp gain would have been much closer to 20 or so

ON a side note... I assume doing an uprev will void warranty? I kind of like being under warranty!

Only if they know what to look for.
Also, it ultimately depends on your dealer. They can look the other way if they want to.

It depends on your dealership, what needs replaced under warranty and how observant they are of that kind of thing. There is no "warning" that pops up when they connect to it that says its been tuned but if you are having a driveability problem and they look at your A/F readings they may notice something is different. I wouldn't recommend telling them tho
