I'd have to look back at my notes when I got my car dyno'd- but i am almost positive thats the same type. According to that ET calculator and my trap speed, I should've dyno'd over 305whp, but was 49whp short of that Must just read really low |

Thanks for the compliment man! Nitrous is cool... but I really look forward to putting twin turbos on later. :) |
Maybe someone in here can answer this: I figured out years ago that I was both figuratively and literally just spinning my wheels when I went without drag radials. So...why bother? Seems pointless to care about times when the tires blow lol

I still care about my times just not enough to run different tires or pull the spare, etc. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk |
I agree with BoomSpoon. Im not a 1/4 mile guy (anymore) and if I test my cars abilities against someone it is going to be on street tires. So i want to know what I can run best with my most common setup.
I used to drive around on drag radials it gets very expensive. |
Fair enough, just curious! Streets are so sketchy with big power, and here you're lucky to get 3 runs in a night. Nothing worse than wasting it on a botched run...

Well I sold my Z for a '13 GTI and '13 Aprilia RSV4 R. More comfy and more scary all at once :icon17:
Just thought id share my outing at the track to compare my times. Seems I still have launch problems lol. 60 foot was similar to my Z, 2.1 vs 2.2 seconds. Z went 13.5 at 105 with an open dif and launch issues (heavy 19" f14 wheels) 6MT K04 GTI went 13.3 at 110 and I think she has 12s in her with better launching and some new tires other than these shitty stock all seasons. Slips at the end of the video. Sad part is I got bored in the winter and got rid of her before I tried out my new dif and 4.08s. I know the Z had more to give with practice and the new mods. Maybe the new owner will show me how its done if I ever find out who has it. |

Thanks... Wish I could run her closer to sea level and not at 5000ft altitude. |

Wow. Corrected for elevation, that is a good run. I make sure to only record downhill times, myself. |

Been a couple months. |
Everything runs like stock until I turn on the N20. I've ran through 4 10lb bottles and nothing "weird" has happened since the Zex kit has been installed. I'm currently on my 5th bottle as of today (completely full).
It's a great mod if someone is looking to keep their car 95% stock and get similar power of a SC. The option to change power just by changing out the fuel pill and N20 is amazing. Taking my car from 50HP to 75HP took me 10min. One of the biggest drawbacks from N20 appears to be filling the bottle. For me, it's not a huge deal because I own the filling station and get refills at cost. Another draw back is having to take the bottle out and refill... but that's pretty minor. --- One more thing... I plan on keeping the Nitrous installed and running it with turbos in the future. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know specifically! |
Thanks for the update. Awesome news. If i wasnt broke at moment......

Hey guys, any suggestions as to the best way to launch? I was experimenting with hard launching and wheel spin vs high revs and slipping the clutch. So far my best 60' is a 2.1. Now I have 11" wheels in the back and I wanna do better. Any advice from the pros? What rpm should I hold at, stuff like that.

Hehe. But seriously, I need to know what I'm doing wrong. I tried blipping the throttle right before take off and starting from like maybe 2k rpm, no wheel spin. Then I tried revving at around 3500 and dumping the clutch and trying to modulate wheel spin. Got a **** load of wheel hop. Then I tried driving at around 5k and slipping the clutch. Couldn't get better than a 2.09 60'.

I launch at about 1700 on 7at. My best 60ft is 1.920 so far. |
I've searched and read a few different pages, I was just wondering if anyone here had any other tips or tricks. The general consensus to be launched at 3500 rpm, and drop the pressure in your tires to about 28 pounds.

I leave my rears at 35. I tried 30 twice and same 60ft but slower trap for me.

Like they say at the drag strip. <If you're spinning you ain't winning>

I got my best results doing it this way: -Rear tire pressure = 25 psi (although I felt like I lost a mph or two this way) -Do a quick 3-4 sec burnout (I'll take sh*t for this) - puts a little heat in the tires and gets all the water out of the grooves -hold 4,000 to 5,000 RPM at the line - not easy to "hold steady" with the drive-by-wire, i usually end up kinda of bouncing it around there -'quickly' let out the clutch (not dumping it, but not slowly slipping it either) -the split second the rear starts to squat, put your foot into the gas pedal HARD. if you spin at this point then your run is FUBAR. If you get on the gas too late, you'll get wheelhop. With factory suspension, Sport wheels & tires, stock clutch I managed to cut high 1.8x to low 1.9x 60ft launches. Best I ever ran was 1.85 60ft. This was at PBIR down here in Palm Beach, IMO a very sticky track. Side note: I'll never forget the night I was running low 1.9x and a few high 1.8x 60ft launches and some random hot shot at the track was critiquing my time slips. He said that I "need to work on my launches" and I'll be able to get some faster times. I asked him what car he was driving that night.... "oh that GT-R over there is mine". :ugh2: |
Thanks man I appreciate it, exactly what I was looking for.
Currently running Forgestar f14 11" in the back, Michelin PSS 305's, -2.6° camber I think. I just got camber arms in the mail today do those need to be installed and then camber should be like -1.6-1.8. I'll reload my trunk, drop a little tire pressure and see what happens. Zdayz 2014!! |
