Sweet! I may try to lower it, hopefully I am successful!

Edit: sorry, I found it. My tires were the stock Bridgestone Potenzas. 275/30/19 I believe.

I got bummed out Friday night at the drag strip. I ran a 13.35 on my third pass as the cool weather kicked in then got booted for not wearing a helmet. Dem bastids!!

Better than being booted for no cage. Little harder to add. Lol

I've never had to wear a helmet and my other car runs 11s. That sucks!

Really? Man you would lite up the a$$ hairs of the track crew where I go. They were usually not to stern about it until here lately. Any 13.99 or quicker is suppose to wear a helmet and a 11 or quicker needs the cage or unless it's stock I assume. A GTR was up there too and ran a 11.05 and he did have a helmet so while I could no longer run I hung out with him and watched him race. I guess it wasn't too bad after all. GTR 'S are stupid fast.

Hammtastic 11-11-2014 06:38 PM

Yup! Only helmet I own is a dirt bike helmet. Lol

11s and still no helmet? Are you sure you were at a track?

You know, maybe it was a dream...:rofl2:

SharpByCoop 11-12-2014 08:50 AM

Up here in the NE you have to wear a helmet no matter how 'slow' your car is. That, and it needs to be SNELL 2005 rating or newer.

Metal tire valve caps for all cars 13.00 and quicker. Roll bars in convertibles 13.00 or quicker (why I'd never consider a vert). Roll cage 11.00 and quicker, and a parachute 10.00 and quicker.

These are NHRA requirements. Some 'test and tune' days ***ahem Atco ahem*** they let it slide. ;)

Coop

Z eliminator 12-15-2014 04:59 PM

Up here in Canada, you would not even get to the staging lane with out a helmet.
And it has to be Snell rated 2005 minimum. You would not get by Teck inspection.
" how much is your head worth " They told me if I go faster than 11.49 I will need a cage.
Failure to comply with any of these and after your run " you are escorted out of the track ASAP."
They do not fool around with safety at Toronto Motor Sports Park >

Nice work. If i were you i'd be scared to modify it. Will prob get slower. Even with the open diff is kinda hilarious. I wouldn't road course with the open diff though.

FPenvy 02-03-2015 07:28 AM

another low ET from florida. i'm still convinced all tracks run downhill there.

We don't have downhill around here, it's all flat as can be.

obviously FL is flat. regardless of that, lately FL people have posted some low times. 12.91 stock is pretty ridiculous. I think I need to go run in FL

I'm sure it's because we are so close to sea level.

Thanks.

Some of the guys here in Florida said that their car ran slower with thousands dollars of bolt ons and exhaust. Guess the manufacturer know a little more than the average Z enthusiast

So you pulled a 1.9 while I pulled a 2.0, I trapped 1mph higher than you, but you beat me by 3 tenths at the 1/4. Weird. Congrats on the 12sec pass!

SharpByCoop 02-04-2015 06:40 AM

ssmoked: Did you let the computer shift for you, or did you tag it on your own? Curious to know what works best.

Coop

ssmoked 02-04-2015 07:58 AM

It took me about 4 visits (~25 runs) to the drag strip to achieve that time. Here is what I did:

1. Real burnout with brake fuse pulled
2. Slightly brake torque 500rpm above idle
3. Manual up shift 200 rpm before redline

Not hard to do, but you need perfect traction at the launch

the 60' time can change a lot at the end of the track. I don't think any of my 12's have ever been achieved unless the 60' is below a 2.0

my best ET I had a 1.950 60' and trapped 111mph

Rule of thumb is every 0.1 shaved from your 60' will result in a 0.2 faster ET.

Sounds familiar to me. :hello:

Good stuff. Thanks!

Thank you Coop! Your ET record has stood for some time. We have prepped as good as we can and the chips will fall where they fall.

I feel like our cars should be able to do that being TT.
