Went out to the track last night, lots of racers showed up due to cool weather here in the 405. I was literally surrounded by rustangs and smellcats in the staging lanes.
Made a no nitrous hit on the nitrous map and went 12.907, against an old buddy ive known for 25 years in his V8 S-10 pickup sleeper, he went 12.95. Then made a couple of nitrous hits with 100 shot. I thought it would go quicker, and the AFR looked really good, so might need to ADD MORE SPRAY. |

The track scales were showing I was at 3465 lbs with driver and 10 gal of fuel.
So, most calculators show 402 hp needed to go 11.939 at 3465lbs at sea level. I was at 1300 feet, which would make the HP more like 420. Exactly what the dyno says, 320 plus a 100 shot. |

I have the 3.69 factory VLSD. It generally works pretty well.
I have the NX cheapo MaxEz plug in progressive controller starting at 20% when it goes WOT, then up to 100% in 1.0 second. This is basically 20% to 100% over the duration of first gear from 1800 to 7500 rpm. It would go quicker in 60’ if I shortened the ramp time down to say .5 seconds or 0 seconds, but I dont want to hurt the motor. |
I’ll be back fellas, by next fall
Gonna be built & boosted this time :driving: Gonna do 1/4, 1/2 & would love to make it out to the Texas-Mile  |

So I took WHITERICE to the dyno today, just to see where its at - since it ran a pair of 11.93's at the track last week on the Nitrous Express GTR dual plate kit.
I had the system N20/E85 jet sizes off by a couple thou, maybe because the DA was higher today, but I got a some good pulls on it. Its a 7AT pulling in 4th gear, with the factory 3.36 rear gear replaced with a 3.69. So the numbers are a little wonky. Found a safe nitrous tune with E85 and a 100 shot showing 11.6 AFR, which is very close to my track tune. This is just a DeutchWorks 200 pump upgrade (returnless) and GTR injectors, GTR dual nitrous plate kit. 3" aam exhaust and Motordyne resonated test pipes - Stillen intake. Remote Etune by SEB. I can get more from it, but the shop owner had to leave. I am happy with the data. I was able to log the dyno runs with EcuTek, standing next to the car with my laptop. AFRs were the same between the dyno and my logs. 388 HP 341 Torque |

So, I took the lessons learned from the dyno pulls, and took WHTRICE to Thunder Valley last night. Conditions were excellent for going fast. Density altitude at 1000 ft, with temps in the high 50s.
Used the exact dyno tune from the post above, which only made 388 HP and it ripped of an 11.589 at 117 mph. There is still more power in it to be had. Car was right at 3400 lbs with driver and 1/2 tank of E85. Nitrous bottle was lower than I thought, and I actually ran out of juice on the 11.90 run. Pleased with the progress so far, and impressed with the raw torque that Nitrous gives these little VQ engines. This is essentially a 100 shot nitrous tune. I have jets for up to a 200 shot. This was a 1 second progressive ramp from 20% to 100% at WOT. I was really tempted to cut the ramp down .5 seconds..... |

Here is the Throttle Position, AFR and RPM log from the 11.589 run last night.
A couple things wrong with it. One issue, is the lean spike when the N20 system activates, and the other is the longgg 4-5 shift. The 4-5 shift I can fix with some 7AT valvebody mods, the lean spike however has been a challenge to deal with. Any suggestions would be welcome. |
