I pla nto run my stock 09 MT the weekend between Christmas and the new year.

I read through yall times... I hope my track proves to be "fast". I would hate to run slower than my 07' MT did. My best time with that stock Z was a 13.31. None LSD and no TC.

ALL stock HR? Down to the tire? Base right? And you have a 6mt base now? That has no LSD either, TC is moot. Its lighter, more tq and more HP, better stock tires too.

Antistupid 01-18-2014 12:27 AM

yes Fire, all stock HR BASE. 07' 6MT BASE... STOCK down to the tire. One tire fryer. and sorry, time was 13.32. Ran at No Problem Raceway, 62deg 50%humidity trap was 106.xx

Tonight didn't get me the results I wanted, 43deg 70% humidity. Smode, no TCS. Never got a launch that felt right.
09' 6MT Sport, all OEM

771 was a 3.7l v6 mustang, all he had was a tune and 3.73s... I was impressed.

Lol your right I been to the track on the East Coast before.

TheBoomSpoon 03-17-2014 07:11 PM

I was going to hit the strip past weekend but then I checked my tread on the rears. Yikes. Getting some new cheap summer tires this week. Sumi something 150 per tire. I know its cheap but I dont need better tires until aug/sep for next track day so these will be just fine

This was my best time of the day 14.26...

First time at the track... It was a blast! I just don't understand why our times at 5000 ft + altitude are so different than the ones posted here??

I ran with a 2013 GT500 with 650hp who ran a 13.97 and had a best time of 13.78 for the day?? WTF?

Thinner air makes for less power.

That being said, there's too many questions regarding that 650HP GT500. What tires? What was the 60' time? Trap speed? Even a crappily-driven 650HP car should be in the 12s, but there are plenty of shitty drivers out there. Also, he could have simply been lying about how much power it made. Lots of THOSE out there, as well...

If you look at the 1/4 mile calculators (for what they are worth), that would be 13.25 ish at sea level which isn't horrible.

Well I based it on the model "2013" GT500 came with actually 662hp from the factory and I do know his car was bone stock down to the tires. Great guy to talk to and a complete car nut at age 60 he is at the track every week working on his launch techniques.

Theres also an android app called "drag times" that can convert and also give you the DA and various other awesome info.

OK, makes more sense.

That car has way too much power. The stock tires don't have a prayer of supporting that. So that's problem number one. Secondly, is likely closer to high-500s to the wheels.

And finally, practice makes perfect, but he's wasting his time without getting proper tires. Just making a nice smokey show for the viewers. If he's as much a nut as you say, he probably knows this, so it doesn't matter lol.

Thanks BoomSpoon

I found this DA calculator on DragTimes and here is what it read for correction:

Correct your ET and MPH using the DA (Beta Testing)

Density Altitude: 6449 feet above sea level

1/4 mile ET: 14.26 seconds

1/4 mile trap speed: 98.31MPH

Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
13.086 @ 106.958 MPH

Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
13.342 @ 104.777 MPH

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
13.754 @ 101.807 MPH

Ran up to capitol raceway and did 4 runs. Hit my best yet 12.841 at 108.7.

I love how sometimes i trap 110 but its always barely into 12s. Here's the slip and a link to the in-car run.

Looks like I need to take a ride down to Capitol and beat everyone's times now that 2 have passed me on the board if e85 still counts for the time leaderboard

Slightly, just slightly faster than stock. Must have had some serious stickers somewhere to generate that kind of acceleration.

Nice run and thanks for posting the video; quite helpful.

Monza, who'd have guessed.

My car is a NON-SPORT touring model. No wing, only 18 inch rims, it needed lsd so quaife was added.

AAM true dual 2.5 cbe
AAM 2.75 intakes (no insert, reqs tune)
AAM 350z test pipes
Z1 vqde35 headers
Motordyne M370 manifold (great for hpde, seems to limit drag racing)
Quaife LSD (bought for hpde events because i do alot)
Tune from Hills Garage on dyno dynamics 308.9 whp (balt, md)

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/05/jy6ebeny.jpg

I've no idea what that is on a dynojet.

One thing worth noting, previous best was 12.880 with aam hfc and no headers so make of that what you will.

I know this is not the section for this, but 308whp seems low for all that modification and $$. Maybe look into having someone else tune the car?

NickTurnon 05-05-2014 10:34 AM

Some people are making 308whp with just intake, exhaust, and tune.

Seems crazy when BoomSpoon probably spent around $5k in mods (if my maths correct), and some people are getting there by spending $1500.

Sounds like he should've considered going supercharged to me

P.S His dyno chart says "re-tune $250" .. they retuned and still couldn't squeeze more out of that?

One thing: Dyno dynamics
Those dynos are know to read lower than any other, everyone talks about Mustang dynos reading low and be heartbreakers but go spend some time on a dyno dynamics and you will truly cry. For example, bone stock with my Z I put down 240whp on a dyno dynamics when everyone else was easily 15-25whp higher on a mustang dyno.

TheBoomSpoon 05-05-2014 10:50 AM

The "re-tune" note i scribbled on the dyno sheet is making note that it will cost $250 to retune if changes are needed.

In the next 2 months or so at next maintenance i was going to have aam do some dyno pulls on it so i have a dynjojet # with the hills garage tune. At this point 308 is meaningless for comparison unless yours was dyno'd at hills.

No idea. Checking youtube yields results all over the place. Some say %10 lower than dynojet while others say add 15 whp to your result.

I prefer to just say my z on syreet tires runs 12.8 something, rather say 12.7 but maybe ill go a diet from 230 and take out the spare and go with less fuel, half tank this time. its cool to correlate the whp to quarter time for the z but it still depends on traction, weight, etc that it kinda doesnt matter

ET Calculator

This is rudimentary as hell, but your trap speeds puts your whp in the 320-330 range.

I believe that's the same dyno that I did my baseline on.
I did it at 100 degrees and the car was heat soaked, oil temp was at 220+ and a small fan. Put down 252/222tq - Ran a 13.2 stock with street tires..

Our numbers will be off because of 7AT vs 6spd and other factors, but I just feel like you can have much better dyno #s and track #s - With those mods, you should easily hit 315 or so
