That gas cap cover gives me a chuckle every time I see it.
Agree that it looks plain. Generic sports car would be the caption beside it's pic.

I think it's funny that people call the new Z 'a 370Z with a body kit', but then people say the new Z needs a body kit. :)

I actually liked the 370 without a body kit when I first saw it. The new one...not so much. Doesn't stand out in the crowd IMHO.

Pre-release mule would be my guess.

Wow. Silver paint next to other normal cars looks BORING as hell. Watched the drag race video too with the Supra and Mustang Mach 1. The video makes the Z look slow but I say what ever to that. 0-60 in 4.0 is FAST in my book. Really fast. I think both the other cars are not pretty by any means. Maybe even ugly sort of. But the Z looks so plain its unreal. Its like the other two are 9 and 10 for over exuberance, but the Z is like a 2 for dull dud boringness. Sorry folks. The 370Z is a FAR better LOOKING sports car. As is the 350, and 240.

This car will be a complete sales dud. I give it 3 or 4 years tops, then gone.

Agreed. At least for the front, I think Nissan just having given the 370Z headlights a matrix LED update to match that of the Murano's 370Z inspired matrix LED lights would have looked better than the new Z's front end.

This was also a missed opportunity for Morimoto who should have also just imitated the Murano's headlight's design for their 370Z headlamps for a more OEM look, instead of the more ricey look they came up with:

The most important part, is my 2020 is better looking and only cost me $28k CDN brand new. Buying a passion red Z would cost me over $50k CDN nowadays, not worth the price difference and rather invest that $20k+ difference:

Interesting, according to that it looks like you guys in the states can get any exterior colour in the Sport. Here in Canada, I believe you will be restricted to just white, blue and gun metallic on the Sport.

Hence why I stated getting a Passion Red Z in 2023 would cost >$50k.

At least in Canada you would get the rear fog light, the extra anti-corrosive coating in the engine bay and the block heater.

I wish people would drop the 400Z name. Just makes the posting that much more fake. I know it's a fun concept idea, and unrealistic as it may be, still fun to see. Just drop the 400.

To an extent. Having a name like The new Z is just horrible when it comes to parts searching, interchanges, etc. Granted many will specify Z35/23' etc

For many owners it will take an additional 2-3 second explanation of what you have only to be countered by: oh the 400z? Response.

400z sounds great in my opinion, purists of the brand might not agree.

SeeThruHead 06-14-2022 01:27 PM

it's still a z34 so that doesn't work.
Just call it "The Nissan Z"
doesn't really roll of the tongue but that's it's name.
The next will hopefully be a new chassis, if they even make one. So it would be z35, easy to call it that, even if it's the New New Nissan Z officially.

I think 400Z sounds terrible. To me, got nothing to do with purity. ;)

Nissan Calls it a Z. It's not a Nissan Hardbody/D21 anymore, it's a Frontier. etc etc. ;)

As for parts. I dont think it will be an issue with a Hyperlink with just a "Z". As you see here at Z1 already: https://www.z1motorsports.com/

Bonzo 06-14-2022 08:00 PM

Neither calling it a 400Z or just Z makes sense with history of the car. Fact.

99% of normal people in the world have no clue what a Z34 or any of the previous numbers are. So not an answer.

Other companies mess with names and numbers something aweful. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Time will tell here.

The fact is plain and simple to me. If they wanted to keep with tradition, this should have been a 300Z, or the 300ZX. If they wanted the very best marketing for main stream people, it should have been the 400Z, or 400ZX. Bigger is better when it comes to mass public marketing.

Are we really STILL discussing this? Wow. Time to move on folks.

For me, the one and only upside is this car is faster (and it has an extra cup holder - haha). That's it. Its not as good looking as the 370, the wheel options completely suck compared to the 370 Sport, the must "go all in" $10k package thing is worse than the 370 Sport/Touring split or together option, the must pay more for and get 2 tone for most colors sucks bad, the old dash is better (all the electronic gismo is just modern gimmicky), and I don't care if the handling is slightly better (which I seriously doubt) it has electronic power steering assist (something I typically HATE). So nope, no dice. This is not an upgrade car. This is a cool car if you don't have a 370 already. For me, forget about it. I'm keeping the 370 by a LONG mile.

This^^^^ This is EXACTLY how I felt about the 370 when it came out! No way I was giving up my 350 for a 370!! I stuck it to the man by waiting a couple years and buying a brand new one!! I sure showed him!!

ZoomZ 06-15-2022 02:40 PM

My point is, it's called a Nissan Z. Too late for anything else. Not comparing cars, names or components. Just the fact.

I highly doubt these are liquid crystal. They're LED or OLED displays which are more durable.

LED displays are LCD displays. Just the back lighting is different. But in terms of durability, I think thats totally debatable. Many cars use plain old LCD displays with zero issue.

For me, what sucks the most with these new displays is night driving. Even at their lowest setting they are too bright. I turn off the center screen on my SUV because I hate it blaring at me at night.

I can't say for certain since I've not driven one yet, but my money says I'll hate the new Z dash at night.

I just watched this. The comments on the steering are enough for me to mark the Z off the list completely. If there's one thing I hate about my WRX with EPS, it's the lack of feel going thru the corners. Granted, the Z has a different system, but I'll have to pass.

markesc 06-16-2022 10:21 PM

Loved it!!!

Yeah I don't get it: I fit enough camping gear for a week in my 370z plus a friend, just fine. I think the whole suv/cuv thing is more about "looking" sporty and "fitting in" vs. actual practicality... 370z does the occasional gravel road fine... almost anything fits in it within reason... and I have successfully avoid marriage/kids/mortgage debt = :driving: and I don't have any friends.

It'll be interesting to see what happens going into this recession/depression and what dealers do to move units (this topic is rarely brought up when the whole debate about 370z sales occurred - that was right during the last housing crash).

It'll also be interesting to see what happens in terms of how bad ICE owners will be penalized since the clear message now is "JUST" go out and buy an electric car or face endless job ending social alienation/isolation because you ate a steak 2 days ago and drive an ICE vehicle.

Hey marcesc, fVck tne green agenda!

markesc 06-17-2022 01:12 AM

Yeap... it's all about control > environmental concerns...

I mean, bring up big picture topics like coal plants that power a good deal of the grid, or NAFTA leading to jobs being moved to countries that, in those times, were putting up coal plants as fast as possible...

In terms of the new Z, we'll see how bad inflation gets, but I def. would love to have one; but also, I wonder what some of these people paid shops to do a VR30 swap with all the cooling/everything finished...

So what's the deal? Can people start ordering these things, or what? I see these being driven and at dealerships (not personally, but on the internet).

Oh, and also, I'm really glad I decided to make the decision of keeping my z34. There was another member who made a thread about keeping his or trading up (I'm sure many have seen this already), but I'm willing to bet most of us on here have thought about it at some point. That thread will probably get a lot of attention.

My local dealer has had orders already submitted. The last time I talked to them, the first orders will arrive this fall.

These morons who drive EV's still need fossil fuels (Power Plants) to charge them :icon14:

Bunch of idiots, who never critically think about anything. :shakes head:

IDGAF if gas is $10. I'd rather drive an ICE than an EV that ravages the environment to mine for the minerals needed to make those batteries.
The environmental impact mining for those batteries has, is 100x worse than anything a ICE can do. But the self righteous dumb fuqs don't want you to bring that up.

I bet all these EV's catch fire at some point in the future. :stirthepot:

Just like Ethanol. Destroy food crops for a fuel supplement.

The green movement is all about "Action NOW", vs long term ideology.

Europe will go crawling back to Russia once the war is over, but claim a political win as they "negotiate" with Russia.

Hypocrisy at it's best.

Unfortunately, as with anything, the squeaky wheel get s the oil.

No one is defending ICE, oil or tobacco. They just stay silent and bitch and complain on FB or car sites. ;) ( that's a general statement not directed at anyone here)
