Notice the front end has all the extra cooling ducts. I'm sure it's for an intercooler.

About time Nissan, great find!

280driver 10-30-2019 05:30 AM

They ran a 370 around with a 350 body for awhile as well. This is not surprising as the car will basically be built on a modified platform of the current car.

I was really hoping Nissan would have had something out by the time my lease was up on my Infiniti. My 40th Anniversary 370Z was such a great car. My lease ends next month and I ended up picking up a 2017 M2 this past weekend, only to now see some actual news in this thread finally, this morning. Doh!

It's just a guy doing a track day at the Ring. Someone snaps a picture and labels it test mule. :shakes head: Everyone then goes ape chit over it. If you look at the front real good. You can see a lot of chips in the bumper. That car has seen a lot of track time by the looks of the bumper.

However, I have never been part of a consumer focus group.

Just one word of caution. My prediction of a Tokyo Autoshow concept reveal is pure guesswork on my part, so it may possibly be a big letdown. Anything that's not guesswork is also not allowed under the NDA.

Sorry I can't say more - I feel your pain.

I'm not sure what to make of those 370z pics but your carscoops article of that Z being benchmarked with the 2020 Supra, lends some hope. Below is an article from 2005 using a G35 as a test mule for the GTR. So maybe it's not beyond the scope of reality?

This is the 370 mule back in 2007 with a 350 body. If they’ve done it before, not a stretch that they would do it again.

Hotrodz 10-30-2019 07:00 PM

I live in an area were numerous prototypes cars and trucks and trucks are tested and all of the are covered with some kind of urban camouflage or covering. It is very rare to see an uncovered test mule these days.

It’s to early. Thinking this mule is for power train only. That’s why they can use the 370 body with little to no mods. That prototype in 2007 was 2 yrs before we saw the actual body of the 370. The urban camo comes later when the car is closer to production.

Be that as it may, that is what proving grounds are for. Nissan has one of the largest test tracks in the Phoenix area. It vary odd to say the least.

Why is it that all of these websites/magazines all print the same set of pictures. :shakes head: You guys ARE so desperate for any news. That you will believe anything. If that's the case. I got some soon to be ocean beach front property in Az for sale. Buy it now before the BIG EVENT. After that. The prices will skyrocket.

The LA auto show starts November 22nd, they did debut the 370Z there but I wouldn’t get my hopes up about any more info about the next gen Z.

:iagree:

Yes, I wouldn't get my hopes up either, after my recent disappointment, but it's going to appear soon and we'll see the finished article/s within two years.

Zyonara91 10-31-2019 02:51 PM

I love the Z, but I do not think I will be getting the newer one. I will keep this current one with its N/A engine and keep it as a classic. I would go for something like a C43 wagon ora C63 wagon. Heck even a E43 wagon would be clutch. I just need a solid all year rounder car to deal with the snow here in Ontario.

I hope they do justice to this car and have no parts that are shared with Renault. I also hope their teams and or execs go through these forums and understand the mediocre attempts on some of their engineering (Lack of proper oil cooler, crappy CSC, crappy differential bushing, crappy fuel pump/reader and the annoying axle click). Those alone push the cost passed 3 grand (labour included), I should not be paying for that **** after I buy the car. Learn to do it right.

The old guy at ZDayZ. Mike what's his last name. You know who I'm talking about. He was telling how he was involved with the 350 and his friendship with Mr. K. His discussions with me differs from what some of the mags printed.
