Either you are leaving something out or the dealer is on some new and improved stuff, but something is not adding up!

Did you go over the 3750 miles for your oil change or 7500 miles? Per our manual, you can do either schedule so if you are over 3750 miles you can make your case that you didn't need to do oil changes until 7500 per your manual but you wanted to be cautious and use the 3750 schedule. You should certainly push on this more; they can't just say you went over your oil change so its your fault...

Sounds like a blanket statement without giving you specifics. Definitely call up NNA just in case your motor consumed oil, which eventually led to failure regardless of how often you changed your oil. Doesn't the motor make all sorts of funky sounds before seizing up?

^ Sounds like an very extended oil change interval with no checking of the level. My Accord goes 7.5-9k on an oil change with miles to spare (according to Blackstone labs). What you can't get away with is running around on 2-3 quarts of oil doing that oil change interval.

VK56 swap! (or ls motor) You could do something crazy like an SR20DET... You'd have to build it and boost it like crazy though.

It sounds like the issue is the dealer. I know when I was a tech a pathfinder came in with a rod hanging out the side of the block. The oil filter had never been changed with over 15,000 miles on it. Nissan would use an oil filter and the last digit would be a 1 to let you know it was the factory installed filter. You shouldn't have to prove an oil change was done. Just my .02. Any dealer that does that is jonesing for the extra cash.

Really depends on your budget and whether this is your daily driver or not. If I had another daily I would had moved forward with rebuilding my blown motor better than before but financially I was not ready and with my car being my daily, it was my reason to just say screw it drop a used motor in and get me back on the road asap!

I would still fight this though or at least have Nissan meet you partial of the way to pay for a new engine. Worst they can say is NO! Worth a shot. If you buy a used motor and swap it out you can always keep the blown one to rebuild like I am doing plus no down time since you will still have your car while the other engine is getting built.

I found it cheapest to just have my dealer find me a used motor and drop it in. Pricey! but quick and painless and got me back on the road enjoying my car again

Tell them you want to meet with the DPSM and here it from them, otherwise its the dealer saving their warranty expense, there is bulletin on these motors using oil, use that in your favor.
