Per our manual, you can do either schedule so if you are over 3750 miles you can make your case that you didn't need to do oil changes until 7500 per your manual but you wanted to be cautious and use the 3750 schedule. You should certainly push on this more; they can't just say you went over your oil change so its your fault...
