When the FRS came out as a concept I thought "what an awesome looking car" and rumors were flying around about a possible 300 hp engine, I was sold. I could not wait until it came out.
When it finally came out, reality hit. 200HP engine, styling was not quite the same (not as aggressive as the concept), had to buy it as Scion (no FRS for Canada). Even then I figured I'd give it a chance. It was fun to drive, but then I thought "I am basically replacing my Celica with a rear wheel drive Celica" and I did not see the point in that. Then I laid my eyes on a Z and the rest was history.

I like the 86 platform only after it has been modded - including the stupid "Rocket Bunny" kit even though it is played out. Yes that vehicle is underpowered but how many of us have been in a car we considered over-powered?
Like the z34 I think the 86 is a great platform for starting a build - although there isn't any sense in comparing stock Z to FRS/BRZ (apples to oranges) Like anything else you can build a very potent FRS/BRZ if you are willing to invest the time and money to do so. Here is link to 400-500 hp BRZ Nearly 500-HP Turbo Subaru BRZ Tested on New Ignition certainly nothing to scoff at for a light weight car that starts around 25-30k Like everyone else here I am happy with my zed as it was the best fit for me. |

The prius tires did it in for me. The stock wheels are donuts. Yes it makes it a blast to throw around but if you're looking for any type of speed, get ready to pay for it.

Honestly I feel like my fellow Z friends are very nice to speak about the TOYODA in a way, I've driven the car and no offense it's a POS the takeoff as said above is nonexistent and the interior looks god awful. I keeping my opinion as is don't think of the car as even remotely in the same class. I'll be bold enough to say any year miatas are for myself much funner. The brz does handle well for the 2k weight pos that it is. I hope I wasn't too harsh or maybe I was but Fk it. 20 grand for a car like that? All the owners have is ITS FUN ITS FUN.... Yeah take your fun car and gtfo.
I hope I didn't disrespect any owners or anything these Are just my opinions |

The Z is a man's car. The FRS is so slow and boring.

I'm all for someone going and buying whatever it is 'that floats your boat', but IMHO the FRS/BRZ or whatever they're called, are simply pedestrian looking at best next to a Z. I guess some people must like them, (or can't afford a Z or want better gas mileage, or need pretend rear seats) but compared to a Z they are just plain, plain, plain.
I'm with some of the others here. You see them everywhere where I live, but I can go for days without seeing a 350 or 370, and I'm LOOKING for Zs everywhere I go. 104 |

when i was shopping for my next car i did drive and compare the z, the frs and the hyundai genesis. i'm sure the brz can be tossed in here for comparison. for me it was easy. i knew that if i had bought anything lesser than the z, which the fsr/brz is, then i wouldn't be happy or as happy. for me it then came to shopping for the right z. the brz/frs is a poor man's z, as the z is a poor man's porsche. 8 months later and i have not regretted the decision. yeah, the frs is a nice car, nicer than say a corolla, a camry, or a honda. but not nicer than a z.

Nothing that really makes me hate the FRS/BRZ, but nothing that floats my boat, would not buy. Again, different cars, for different tastes for different people....
Now, these cars being in eeeevery single car maganize, now that really pisses me off. So your telling me there are no other interesting builts being done that couldnt make the cover of your crappy magazine...? Come on, now! ![]()

Makes little schnitt to me personally of the brz or FRS wins or losew times on a track etc. Like mentioned earlier its what makes you smile and happy when you drive it.
I kid you not, I drove my brothers hairdressers of a car MX5 once and it put a smile on my face. For me it's not all just about the numbers. If it were, then I would have been in a Five.0 pony and not the Z. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk Last edited by Limeybastard; 11-01-2014 at 01:12 AM. |

LOL! 370z has been tested multiple times and comes out with better lateral acceleration and g's and also does better in figure eight testing. Also salom and skidpad numbers are higher. Not to mention the 370z is way faster than both of those cars. Even if they mod up the frs/brz with some sways, coils/springs, lighter rims, and better tires the 370z with better sways, wider tires, lighter rims, and springs will end up outperforming those cars on the track.

I have HATED the FRZ since the day it came out because to me it's really bandwagony to me. It's the RWD Civic of our day.
I drove a modded FRZ (coilovers, wheels, tires, exhaust, maybe other stuff too) for 2 days and it's SOOOOOOOOO SLOW... It FEELS nippy in 1st and 2nd, but after that... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD... I'd be on the freeway and I'd try to lane weave but the FRZ is too slow to do it, I'd mash the pedal and acceleration just didn't come... It was painful. 72... 73......... 74...................... 75........................... 76................ My dad's Maxima is 10 times faster. As for handling... Any car handles well when you can only go 30MPH, LOOOOL!!! Handling wise my 370Z has lightweight rotors, front Hotchkis sway only, and 275/305 RS3s and I think my car handles 100000 times better than the FRZ that I had that had pretty meaty Nittos and at least coils... The track guys I know tell me that once they get to speed they can keep it at speed but the really fast FRZ guys are driving at 11 (out of 10) so if ANYTHING happens, tires are 1 degree too hot, too cold, hit a pebble, whatever... They're off the track, where with a 370 there is margin for error.
