Wet mid morning but dry start and sunny afternoon.

Highlight of the day was spinning through the expensive side of the timing gear during free runs. They had to replace it. :( Sorry guys. Kinda held up the show for about 10 minutes.

Ouch :shakes head:

Rolled over 45k on the car. Looks like I am driving 5K miles every 2- 2 1/2 months. Changed the oil today and did a fluid exchange on Clutch. 5K miles and the clutch fluid looked like crap again, even using Motul RBF600.

First, I have to apologize to you, the Z community, for driving around in an absolutely filthy Z for nearly a year. I have done my best to reverse course this weekend. I found some before photos ... from Dec 9, 2014! :wtf2: The first three photos are before, and the other four are the fruits of my labor. My camera died just before engine bay photos, so I'll have to get those later.

Since Friday I have spent somewhere around 13 hours detailing the Z in what I like to call a Labor of Love. Almost everything. By hand. It might be easier to name the items I did not clean. Undershroud, spare tire, and radiator are about all I can think of :icon17:

Engine bay got a thorough wipe down including removal and treatment of all cowls. Wheels were removed and cleaned, including barrels. This allowed me to clean the calipers as well as clean and treat the fender linings. The interior was vacuumed and all panels were wiped down in detail. Most rubber trim and seals were cleaned and treated. Exhaust was polished and CF cans were cleaned.

All exterior panels received at least a wash, clay, polish, and liquid sealant applied by hand. This is the shortcut I took at the end of today when I was fading. The hood, front fenders, doors and roof were done when I had more energy and received a wash, clay, 2-step polish, 2 layers liquid sealant, glaze, and buttery wax. See the photo of the arsenal I used. Towels used were Eagle Edgeless Orange/Blue from The Rag Company.

Looking good! Mine hasn't been washed in about a month now, although I've probably only driven it about 300miles since. Was going to wash it this past weekend but it was ridiculously hot/humid so I opted for a beer and A/C instead :D

Maybe this coming weekend I'll clean her up.

I finally have something to add!

I just returned from a weekend trip to the Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge in Arkansas. It's a great little trip. Just 4 hours from Dallas.

Here's a clip of me climbing the hill after getting breakfast in the 'cute' town at the base of the mountain.

Mine still waits after autox last saturday. I have autox again this Saturday. I may take Friday off to spiff up the car, maybe change some fluids, trans and diff. I have a pressure bleeder, I should cycle out the brake and clutch fluid as well.

FWIW, I would not use the power bleeder on the clutch system (if you were planning to do so). I've used a power bleeder on the brake system three times now. Just keep it under 15 psi - usually 10-12 psi and a few pumps after each corner does it for me.

please elaborate why no use for clutch change?

I would imagine there is every probability of blowing the CSC piston out the end of the cylinder if the pressure is high enough.

Yes you are OCD. No need to fill completely with oil because you are going to spill alot of it as soon as you tip it to install. Fill about one third or no more than half so that you don't spill while installing. This way you get some oil in the filter and also pre-soaking the filtering media. Make sure to put a slight film of oil on the gasket too.

undoubtly you haven't tried it-fill 1-2 hours prior to oil change/ you'll be amazed how little drips when you install....less than a teaspoon.

Dropped it off at a friends shop last night...

32K miles on it so it was over due for the 30K mile service, I had the oil changed several days ago (Royal Purple HPS with royal purple filter)... The air filters are in good shape still and even then, I intend on getting an intake in the next month or so.

I'm using Redline MT-85 in the transmission and Redline 75W90 for the rear diff and for the hell of it, I'm having him install the TWM short shifter (already had a TWM Abrams M1 shift knob)... Then probably have it detailed when I pick it up if he's done before 5.

Good looking car (the other pics, not that the oil pan isn't handsome)
But... just how often do you change your oil?? the filter's labeled 6/15 55k miles and am assuming 2500 until 60k warranty is ~2500 miles? unless you tracked it??(it caught my eye because I do the same thing, all our appliances are so labeled to keep track of purchase dates, ie do we repair the '06 dishwasher or just replace it)
mostly unrelated but when I just got mine I got a free "lifetime" power train warranty which really works for me as I tend to keep my toys so I'll still be posting here when you've all moved on to the390z.com

wheel spacers, exhaust and side splitters will be next.

coils by the end of the year.

spacers since I haven't decided which wheels to go with yet and I'm being extremely picky.

Yep; every 2500 miles. Averaged 26.1mpg since last oil change...it's been hot & been running the A/C more than the Lead-Foot

So you had to pay them extra to fuck up your oil change?? :icon14:
