Took it on a date... Picked up my date and got about a mile down and my clutch pedal went limp, Literally just drops to the floor. Was able to get it to a parking lot of a hotel...

So I had to get it towed 60 miles back home... I'm glad I still have "AAA".

It's either the Clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder, Just hit 31K miles too... Hopefully carmax's 100K miles warranty (that I paid $1500 for) doesn't put up too much of a fight and I'm only out the $300 deductible.

Suuuure the clutch just happened to go out in front of the hotel after you picked up your date. ;)

That really sucks and hope they dont give you any grief. Time to get the upgraded CSC?

I think the warranty would only cover OEM parts... From what I'm reading on "maxcare" (carmax's aftermarket warranty) they like to give you the run around. :shakes head: so the phone tag begins tomorrow

I now will have to order a replacement part for about $200

And end up with a dinged resonator.

All because someone was too fukin careless to ensure they wouldn't loose the hitch off the back of their truck.

Thank You whom ever you are.

I hope you're a$$ runs over a long spike and it empales the oil pan.

End of PSA.

Sucks G. Sorry 'bout that. It could have been worse. I've driven around an 8 foot roll of carpet and a ladder in the last month. Getting dangerous out here in CA fwys.

I adjusted the exhaust tips on my FI TDX to sit flush and painted my Calipers with G2 paint.

Was going to autox today in Frederick MD but plans changed on Friday. :( Only had time to go give my money to join CDC so I can preregister for the next one. I did take a ride along in the second quickest car at the event according to regulars. An NA Miata with lots of suspension mods and engine tweeks. Good thing it had some racing seats. Fun ride.

Drove the Z to Home Depot to pick up a couple bags of garden soil. Placed them down across the hatch on a towel. OMG road noise was 90% eliminated, just the sweet sound of the exhaust. So I had to drive around for another 1/2 hour just to enjoy it.

If not for the smell, I'd leave it in all the time :icon17:

Ummm...

Hauling garden soil or manure is a job I do in my wife's Juke or neighbor's Dodge Ram.

Magic Bus 06-06-2015 06:42 PM

Yep, exactly what I used to use the GTI for until my wife adopted it. Now she won't let me haul anything in it :shakes head: :owned:

We'll call it the "Dirt Bag" mod.

Pintsize725 06-06-2015 09:07 PM

Might have a potential buyer for my Z.

Sat in a 2012 Mazda 3 today and actually liked it. Guess now I need to try a more recent model.

Yeah just the front eibach. That and oem rear seems to be well liked by many street set ups on the boards. If I don't like the balance ill add the rear :)

Finished install of new Pioneer 4100NEX with Moonet backup camera. Took my time soldering all the connections & drilling a couple holes for usb/hdmi/aux. Flush mount ports from amazon worked out nicely:
Amazon.com : Rerii 3ft 1 Meter USB & HDMI AUX Extension Dash Panel Flush Mount Cable For Car
Amazon.com : Rerii 1 Meter 3ft 3.5mm & USB AUX Extension Dash Flush Panel Mount Cable For Car
For kicks successfully tested out chromecast, will probably never use, but the option is there.
Since I was removing panels, figured I'd remove the hatch weight as well..no more opening issues

GJ u do the steering wheel control module too, i take it?

alcheng 06-07-2015 03:04 PM

installed the SmartTop module last night, quite straight forward, the tricky part was leading the long signal wire from the top compartment to the passenger foot-well at the front... but still, not too bad.

now the top works like a charm with the remote, and when I am backing out from the garage, no need to wait anymore!!

Got a correctable Modified Exhaust violation 27151(a)VC

I guess I gotta put my stock exhaust back on and give my local LAPD a visit. Anyone care to share their experience/advise on how they handled the correctable violation? This is my first time getting the fix it ticket.

Im running a F.I. non-res

FairladyZ10PG 06-08-2015 03:42 PM

^that sucks! were you doing anything illegal at the time or were you just stopped for being loud?

Nothing illegal. The ticket was solely on (loud) modified exhaust. I didn't even let my rpm pass 3k. I was just making a left turn and next thing I know there is a motorcycle cop behind me with his lights flashing. The cop seemed nice but I can't believe they would pull me over for just that:confused:

FairladyZ10PG 06-08-2015 04:22 PM

Yup, guess the cop was having a bad day...so unnecessary

Yesterday, the package from RJM Performance arrived and I eagerly tore it open to see first hand my new adjustable clutch pedal. Very nicely engineered and built to withstand a nuclear explosion. Installation took a little less than 1.5 hours. I read up on the instructions several times during the waiting period and had a good understanding of how everything would fit together. I wasn't sure how the adjustable fulcrum worked, but seeing it in action made perfect sense. This clutch pedal really does make a huge difference in driveability! So smooth and linear with a broader engagement zone. Just perfect! With this pedal and its controlled range of clutch fluid movement, coupled with a thorough thermal insulation of the clutch lines, I have done what I can to prevent being inconvenienced by a leaking CSC. Knock on wood...

I've driven my Z three days since getting the exhaust removed and ECU flashed back to stock. Today it fired up and immediately threw the P2A03 code along with U1000.

Yay.
