Kicked my car sideways both in 1st and 2nd gear leaving the parking lot because I was pissed. I was pissed because of the stupid morons in the parking lot that don't know how to drive. A two car traffic jam... In a parking lot... How the hell is that even possible?!?!

Idiots.

Installed the ijdm led bulbs for the parking lights. Ill use them as DRLs. Much briighter and whiter than the lame oem 168s.

I just wanted to give a shout out here to a couple of excellent vendors that I have had and opportunity to purchase some new stuff from. Today I ordered a new O9 - 14 Nismo bumper from Juan at Fontana Nissan AKA Nissan Race Shop. Juan provided me we excellent pricing and a quick delivery time. I also have purchased some Swift Springs for my Fortune Auto 500 coil overs and a brand new set of Enkiei's from Josh at Kamispeed and he his pricing and sevice was just as outstanding. I have problem recommending them as a vendor and I will definitely be using them in the future.

Something showed up today, and will be getting bolted up on the car tomorrow, along with the HKS exhaust finally!

ChopsZ 09-14-2016 03:11 PM

Well, the HKS got installed, but not the Motordyne, due to time constraints and technical difficulties - a.k.a. - those blasted "demon" bolts. A 1/2" breaker bar nearly 3 feet long, four 1/2" extensions which came to about 48" in length, a quality impact socket and plenty of heat and PB Blaster. Those Mother Effers would not give. After about the fifth try, the head started to rounded off.

I'll have to go back and we're going to pull the exhaust manifolds off so he can either cut or drill though those damn bolts. Wish I had some extra cash for the some headers at this point! I'd take them to him to install since we're pulling the stockers anyway. Oh well.

In other news, the HKS went on without a hitch. It sounds and looks great! It's nearly silent at idle, has a smooth, mellow deep tone under light throttle input, then opens up and wales under WOT. Inside the car, absolutely no drone at all. In fact, very little sound at all inside. Just that mellow deep smooth tone, and no more interior panel rattles! It's just loud enough to still cover that awful sound of the motor coming through the firewall.

Anyway, a few pics...

Did a a/v/nav install this evening. First one in some time now. I have to say I was surprised how easily this car comes apart. Now I have a dash cam looking forward, and a rear view camera to get out of parking spots! The blind spot is real. Also I can't forget a map to annoy my lady with because "we already know where we are" http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...65cd34a336.jpg

Ohh yeah, I just picked up my Z from the mechanic. Had a laundry list of goodies installed. Whiteline front sway bar, spl font end links, Z1 rear diff cover, quaife rear diff, energy rear diff bushings, nismo s-tune struts/springs, nismo body brace kit, FI cbe.

mishuko 09-16-2016 07:26 PM

Pushed the muffler section in a bit and lined them up. Tighten the crap outta the clamp. Seems good... maybe lol

ChopsZ 09-17-2016 12:32 PM

Moving right along... As I wait till the beginning of next month to get the cats removed and the ART pipes installed, I went ahead and ordered the Z1 CAI this morning, in all black.

I'm also talking with Sebastian at Specialty Z about the EcuTek. I don't know if he answers emails on the weekends or not, but it's not like I'm in any major hurry either. Whenever he gets back with me, I'll be ordering the kit though, with or without the "custom tune" package for data-logging.

Good luck to you, sir! :tiphat:

I was also stopped by those effing demon bolts last night. Got to the last one and the bolt was completely stripped. Had to put on the other stock cat that we took off and sadly put the car back together...

These things are on so tight we even bent one of our breaker bars. Considering getting one of these to help with the stripped demon bolt https://amzn.com/B000QW6K8I but at this point, I'm about ready to bring it to a shop that is willing to help. :(

The bolt extractors you linked are what we had to use. Combined with a big 1/2" drive breaker bar you will get it out, even if the stud breaks (that's what happened to me). Make sure you take the intakes out so you don't have to use swivels!

The sad thing is, I had mine at a shop... A performance shop at that... With a damn 1.8L Civic sitting in the corner pushing 600+ hp!

Anyway, he tried everything possible, and that bolt didn't budge. So in a few weeks I'll be taking it back so he can actually remove the exhaust manifolds and cut those stupid bolts off. A lot of freakin' work just to remove a couple of cats.

Did he use extractors? You should be able to get plenty enough torque to break the stud using an extractor.

Even with the intakes out, it was a bit snug on the driver side and that's where it stripped. I might consider this bolt extractor and give it another go since it actually works. :o

Not that I know of. Just a couple of impact sockets, one the correct size, then one slightly smaller, hammered onto the bolt head after it started to round off. And no U-joint adapters either.

Yep, we tried all of that. Big breaker + extractor should snap that stud for you. Lots less labor than trying to pull a manifold without removing the cat...

My GF is out of town so all I'm doing today is watching football... =)

Stop by Harbor Freight and pick up two long 1/2" extensions and a set of bolt extractors along the way (I was at my brother-in-laws place when I had to do it). I do have the breaker bar though =)

Know how you feel, strangely enough though i was able to get both driver side and passenger side bolts out without breaking anything. That was with about as many extensions and an 18 inch breaker bar and just pressing on it with my entire body weight lol

sounds like some folks were between a rock and a hard place... lol GJ getting that thing off. :D

for me, just enjoyed motoring my Z today at 65-70F-ish sunny weather. had a great time. 2 more drives before hibernation. qd'ed afterwards. also checked out my buddy's new Q50 RS400. very nice. funny he's about my age and has these adult cars while im still fiddling around with kids toys. :p not dat i would change a thing.

b15 09-18-2016 06:21 PM

Took the Z out this morning for a back road run. It loved the 58* air. Was a great drive. Made me question if I'm sure about selling it. :ugh:

shadow85 09-18-2016 09:21 PM

Hey guys with the 13+ models. What did you guys do with the stock geniune ray's engineering wheels after you guys got new afternarket wheels for your Z?

Did you guys sell them, keep them for spares or value?

Im thinking of getting some aftermarket wheels but would need to sell the stock rays wheels to fund the aftermarket set.

Do they fetch much?

The OEM RAYS Sport wheels are so undervalued given the build and quality. They are super light and perform great. There are just too many out there that the price is driven down. Had some previous offers for 1k but it fell through. Now they are being offered at sub 1k with tires and that is just absurd. I'm keeping it for good.

shadow85 09-19-2016 12:31 AM

You guys are in the states also, so probably have alot more of them floating around. I wonder what they are worth here in Aus.
