When we were looking for the g/f's Z here are some of the great things that happened at the Nissan dealership in Deland.

#1) This car comes with the CVT transmission
#2) The Magnum red is a great color
3#) Is that a 2014 Nismo you have? It has a different body kit.
Me: Nope, its a 2010, its the same body kit.
Them: No, they changed it was different in 2012 and now its the same as your body kit.

and the biggest
We were there for the national offer of 2,999 down and 209 a month for a 2013 base model with a few options, like floor mats, splash guards, etc.
They gave us an estimate of $4500 in trade in, and granted the car was a almost 2k more than the base model listed in the deal. Somehow, the monthly payment went up to $300. When we asked for clarification on why the payment would go up almost a hundred dollars a month when the price only went up 2k and there was an extra 1.5k down for a difference of $500 dollars, the sales manager grew very irate. He told us that there were no vehicles like those listed in the ad. So I asked him if we gave him another $500 to get the price the exact same would it then get to the advertised price of $209?

This is the short version, but the sales manager implied that this was not the dealership for us and not so kindly asked us to leave. The salesman also suggested we were wasting their time and were not serious. We went and bought a Z from another local dealer who was able to honor the national deal without treating us so poorly.

Would have gone back to that dealer after you got the other Z and showed them how serious you were about buying the Z and gave them a big middle finger as you did a burn out out off their driveway

Reminds me of a video I saw about a guy who was going to buy an F430 but was dressed in plain clothes. First dealer completely ignored him so he went elsewhere. Second dealer took him seriously and he bought a $200k+ car from them...Never judge a book by its cover!

Part of the survey that is sent is something to the effect of did you shop at any other dealers? and if so why didn't you buy there?
The finance guy at the dealership we ended up buying from told us that when you put in the other dealer's info, they get sent something that more or less says here's proof that you lost a sale.

I'm not saying we went there dressed to the nines, but we didn't look like bums either. Also, we showed up in my twin turbo Nismo... not saying that qualifies us, but it certainly should say "hey these guys like Z's." I used to get the occasional service work and parts from that dealership, not anymore. If I was a salesman, I would of been thinking .. 2010 Nismo, that should be close to paid for... let's make this sale here and then try and get him to trade up as well.

my dealer called and left a voicemail that i still owed money on my Z. which is completely wrong. i ignored it.

the dealer called the next day left a voicemail if i'd be interested in trading my Z in. i ignored it.

the dealer called the next day left a voicemail if i still had my Z. i ignored it.

the dealer called the following day, i picked up, he asked for me so i just answered 'happy holidays, may i take your order?' he hung up. lol

he never called back after that.

1) Had the sales mgr. @ Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, Ca. tell me that the price I had seen in an Auto Trader ad was wrong (it was almost $4k below KBB) and he would have to charge me more. I then informed him that was against the law. I got it for $4k under KBB.

2) Also, had the same fool tell me that the 3rd party service contract he was pushing on me for $1900 was better than the factory Nissan plan…I took neither.

One of my favorites was when I was negotiating a deal for my CY 370Z. The 2 salesman I was sitting down with both asked me if I knew what was the name of the yellow. They said no one at the dealership knew but guessed it might be Canary or Lemon. I knew that it was Chicane Yellow. They were all so amazed I knew it. I'm amazed that nobody THERE knew it! Care to add your favorite?
I think they were just trying to make you feel smart.
If you bought the car there, they most likely had a nice laugh when you left.

Every time I go to the dealer for Maint, my car comes back with only 30psi in the tires. This has happened 3 times now. After the second, I asked them to stop touching my tires. 3rd time, I asked them why they keep deflating them. Their reply "you have too much air in them". I said "no they are not, 35 is recommended by Nissan". They reply "Nissan doesn't always know what is best, and we do since we are maint". WTH? I always keep it at 35psi at each corner and check twice a month.

If the dealer asked for a deposit instead of telling you that **** & bull story, you'd probably wouldn't give him and you would ask for a discount. Right???

Dealers DON'T lose money on used cars. Sometimes they may if they are stuck with a car or some other reason want to get rid off it. Also they are not worried about the "against the law" things because on auto trader & other places there's always something about in case of a printing error, bla, bla. Believe me, a dealer is involved in so many other serious games that your threat was just a joke for them.

Nothing is wrong. You're both happy

I love to do this. Did the same thing the last 2 times i bought a car and my gf and i did the same thing when we went to buy her jeep. Obviously im talking about dressing plainly, not buying a 200k car . This helps when you want to just look and not be bothered by salesmen

I have a good one I think.Right after i got my Z, i ordered a pair of kick plates. I didn't feel like tearing things apart on it, so I asked the dealer where i bought it and quoted for 300 (with employee discount). Asked another one, quoted 350 and another one with 250. Finally I asked this dealer and they said we can do it 100 bucks.

Funny I was just watching a show and they were interviewing the owner of Lamborghini of Miami whom does 200 million in sales a year. He said something to the extent of "If they come in wearing a suit, they aren't buying. If they come in wearing cargo shorts and flip flops, they just came from their yacht and want to have some fun".

You'd think they treat you better pulling up in a TT Nismo...Me and my buddy pulled up to Lamborghini of Atlanta in sports cars. The salesman there took us very seriously and was very helpful. We were just looking honestly, but many people here have loaded parents so they know better than to just dismiss two 22 year olds because we were young. Made me respect that dealer a lot more because of how well we were treated. When I buy my Lambo () That's where I'm goin.

( Click to show/hide )
I bought my car myself. I'm a commercial pilot and I'm not spoiled at all, but there are some kids up here driving 100k-200k car from daddy.

Stopped by my local Nissan dealer the other day..(I'm 24, been in the market for one for 3 or 4 months now). Talking to the salesman for a couple minutes..he says "you know this is a 50 thousand dollar car right?" Me..Yes I do. Couple minutes later "you know the payment on this would be around $1200 a month right?" I promptly told him I had the funds to cover it free and clear. That shut him up. It ticked me off him insinuating just because I was young I had no money. Mind you I'm not planning to buy new, looking for one around $25k, but it still left the dealer with a bad feeling. Who is he to judge me. Maybe my parents are millionaires and told me to go shopping. He'll never find out.
