I don't keep a running tab, but lets just say my 9500 has definitely paid for itself just in straight up fines, let alone hassles and insurance nonsense.
Get one! or at least get something. When I drive my wife's car I feel like a blind man running through an alligator infested swamp.

I live and die with my e Beltronics Vector 955. I10 and H54 are packed of Cops. Very good radar. It has saved me from some high price tickets, cops dont play around here in Texas. I was pulled over once for going eight miles over. I was so upset that day the cop was a jerk.

I had the K40 With Laser Diffusers for years Worked great Didn't get a ticket for over 20 years. when K40 changed their system to blue tooth and then to the RL360 series. The detection ability seemed to suffer and there were a lot of startling false alarms. I changed to Escort 9500c1 about a year ago. miss the directional lights of the K40 slealth install (right for rear,Left for front) but like the silent operation because of GPS. Looks like it's a keeper. Have it in 2 cars.

The issue is still the LOS and placement. I have seen some V1 placed in the rear of a car with a straight through line but I would bet some detection is lower because of it.

There are a few systems you can do this with, your standard V1 or Escort will not do it, what you want is a very high end unit which usually costs 2k+ unfortunately.

Radar can essentially be placed anywhere inside the car, and behind bumpers even if you want. As the energy passes through most non-metallic parts.
Laser will need clear LOS.

Wouldn't the metal (hood, firewall, engine, wiring, etc.) interfere with the RADAR signal? Bounce it around too much, weakening it or increasing false alarms? I used to get false LASER readings in my SRT with the 8500 when I either punched the throttle or turned my headlights (HIDs) on. Wasn't always, but still scared the **** out of me. |
