OP: Test drive both. Go over the interiors carefully. That's the only area that I tihnk Hyundai NEEDS to improve on the Genesis. Sure there's some things that could be better about the Genesis (and the 370Z), but the Genesis interior NEEDS some help.

I've test driven both... More than a couple of times. The Hyundai always felt to me like a cheap version of the introductory 350z. When you drive the 370z it feels like a more solid car with an incredible for the price interior the VQ engine has won numerous awards! 370. My choice

I was interested in both, the Genesis and the Z. Test drove the Genesis and felt like I was really have to work it to wring some power from it. I also was really displeased with the lack of quality of the interior. I found the tranny to be a bit notchy as well.
The Z is just so much more refined. I really felt like I was in a sports car whe in sat in it. Interior quality is top notch and the power and was fantastic for having fun! In the end, you really have to test drive them both to determine what's best for you. Oh yeah, one more thing: Something I noticed that was REALLY prevalent int the gen coupe community is that they are all pulling of off the Hyundai badges in lieu of something else. That speaks VOLUMES to me.

At the end of the day it's a Hyundai. Z has a legacy and history behind it. It looks better, sounds better, interior is better. I will go as far as saying a newer 350z like 07 and up looks better and also the Nismo 350z while be significantly cheaper. 370z is no brainer. Why not a roadster 370z?

The Z is in a league far above the Genesis. A quick drive in both cars should allow you to confirm this for yourself.
Hyundai has done a great job refining the Genesis, but the dynamic is still quite a ways off from the Z. |

Ive sat in a Genesis coupe last fall. Nice car less power and comfy. BUT, it just didnt feel like a sports car. More like an upgraded Pontiac G6 coupe. Nice sporty and see em everywhere. With the Z , you feel it. When the tranny just downshifts, when accelerating, when parked. And you dont see Zs everywhere. That I like. As adaily driver the Genesis is probably more suited. But the Z is ina different iconic class. My 3 cents

I have owned a 350z and GC 3.8. Like others have said the Genesis is a great first try in the rwd car segment. Hyundai has an awesome warranty for the car as well. It's a bit quicker than the earlier 350 too. You can get the r spec model with Brembos for a pretty decent price.
The interior quality on them is lacking however. They are a bit heavy and aren't as nimble. Needless to say that I don't own a 370 yet but I do own a genesis coupe and can say it is a really nice car for the price. But if you can afford a Z I would go for it. The Z has heritage and you can really tell when you drive one. |
